Re: Errataed MM entry
Swamps, marshes and wetlands aren't just shallow muddy puddles, they are vast bodies of water, plenty of deep wide and broad expanses of water can and should exist amongst any serious swamp. [br][br]Plenty of swamps are basically muddy lakes, lagoons or rivers with trees and rafts of moss growing in...

Re: Errataed MM entry
A) Being under water invalidates being shot with arrows by some guy in the sky. So hydra swim speed on its own invalidates the tactic, hide or not. [br][br]B) It lives in swamps, probably ugly monster infested zombie movie swamps. I call 100% cover while submerged by means of mud, murk, pond weed an...

I'd like to have a brief go at a few entries on that list that Murtak apparently just conceded.[br][br]Achaierai- Lives in hell, does have a hide bonus, and an odd dark cloud thing.[br]Animated Object - This is SO an ambush monster, you don't just find animated tables roaming in the wild.[br]Assassi...

That's for terrain conditions, not for abilities. [br][br]Oddly the only given example is of orcs dropping rocks on players from hangliders.[br][br]Nothing about terrain, admittedly nothing about character abilities but indeed an awful lot about flying.[br][br]It doesn't specifically rule out the s...

Re: Errataed MM entry
The vast overestimation of the value of flight, even oberoni's 'flight lite' on the basis of terrain being utterly vital in all combats is really rather silly.[br][br]I mean if terrain really is that important then flight, even real flight and the primary tactic of using real flight to lob arrows at...

Re: Errataed MM entry
Unless you are willing to model those monsters after the level abilities of other races, you shouldn't play them. Beholders can't be 1st level and still have any at-will eye rays or flight or an AMF eye. Trolls can't be 1st level and still have regeneration. To be balanced for their level, monsters...

RC regardless that you clearly VASTLY over value flight the fact remains it IS currently available at minimal cost to normal 5th level characters.[br][br]So if your special racial ability at 5th level is to trade even a portion of, let alone a large portion of your character wealth and thus pay a gr...

Re: Errataed MM entry
I've never seen a monster PC played in such a way that was balanced; monsters are based on glass jaws and laser beams and are not balanced. Monster players want all the monster's abilities as per the MM glass jaws and all. [br][br]Maybe you haven't seen them played in a balanced way is because the ...

Re: Errataed MM entry
Ok, so you want to fly. Thats an ability that no other character can get regularly until 5th or 6th level when the Wizards and Sorcerers get the spell Fly, and its an abilty that basically makes you immune to melee attacks meaning that its an auto-win vs a good number of low-level monsters and some...

I hate new races in general, because they just don't fit in anywhere.[br][br]If you want to make a new PC race, then by all means they should come with a new setting of some kind. Re: Errataed MM entry
The reason that people hate monater-players is simply because monster players will not play monsters for roleplaying purposes. [br][br]No. Thats not at all correct. The reason "people" or rather nerf loving parranoid "real role playas" FEAR monster characters is because they eve...

Re: Armies versus Heroes: A sound military System
Connan WAS pretty much immune to everything, failing anything else because it was basically foretold that he was going to become emperor of the known world one day and he really wasn't going to do that if he was killed by some nameless chump on the battle field. And if him being the son of a mighty ...

I like the basic vague underlying idea of the feat in the form of the whole customizable class feature thingy.[br][br]But as long as they are as diverse and moderately useless as they currently are we should probably give them out like free candy.[br][br]Player: "Can I have some candy?"[br...

I'm pretty much in for mostly just doing away with it.[br][br]Though one idea I had for a replacement for alignment, mechanically that is, was to take it all the way to entirely subjective and switch all the spells that target alignments to spells that target "hostile" targets.[br][br]&quo...

And so on. Skills are failures. Feats are failures. Just give people fixed class features that are automatically scaled to your level and vaguely decent. Anything else is just another way to pour syrup on non-magical characters. [br][br][br] Well I'm certainly for your idea of getting rid of skills...
