Given that we're asking mostly medical questions anyway, here's one from me: As part of my courses, I have to write short dossiers (one for each semester) on a GP patient and their ongoing treatment and problems. Last semester, I checked with the GP practice and looked through the patient records - ...

I've been playing a lot of DotA2 again, and have to reaffirm my love for Death Prophet. She starts up a bit slowly, but if you have someone to eat a few nukes and stuns for you, her ultimate is the horror in teamfights. I've won and helped carry games with a terrible item build and multiple early de...

@longes: As I said, the differences are fairly negligible, because all public insurers recieve money from public health insurance and have to pay anything that the GBA (I failed my english check above, it's a federal comittee) says they have to pay for. A physician would have to tell you specificall...

Health insurance in germany is crazy. But let me start with the cold example like everyone else: If you get a bad case of cold in germany, you probably will go to a doctor - it depends a bit on how tough people consider themselves to be and if they need an attestation for school/work, but it's usual...

One way I could see this working is handling it like Frank's Totemist. Instead of just taking the abilities of the things you're emulating, write a list of distinct new abilities based on each class that the Factotum can pick from. This has the benefit that you do not need to consider the balance pr...

I picked up DotA while still fooling around with WC3 custom maps, but eventually got frustrated with playing outside of my circle because the level of frothing nerdrage I used to get was intolerable. Then I dropped out altogether, until a friend passed me beta keys for DotA2. Well, the language has ...

But it's quite possible that scrolls contain carcinogens. There haven't been any studies about the link between scrolls and cancer. Collins and Cordell, lead authors of Libris Mortis, established a definite link between scrolls of necrotic cyst and a benign, fluid-containing tumor in their studies....

DotA2 is very much like DotA1. The difference is mostly snazzy graphics and new voice acting. They haven't ported the last few heroes yet, but gameplay is essentially the same. There are are few detail differences about things like orb effects and spell interactions that weren't possible on the WC3 ...

Is this class meant for use with ordinary domains, sans power? I think that would work, but from my understanding of domains, there is a vast difference in usefulness between the spells granted. I've seen a few efforts to reorganize them - any pointers on which domains are good to use with this class?

Massive amounts of houserules, some even unwittingly. I had a discussion about the Fertility purview (which I likened to giving XP to charity) on the Scion boards, and one of the posters told me how awesome it was to attack his enemies with massive vines and roots. Except that you are explicitly not...

the reason throwing is far superior to, say, firearms, is that with thrown weapons, you also get to add Strength to your damage pool. So, once you break out of the Hero level in to the Demigod level, firearms (or non-thrown ranged weapons in general) become obsolete. It's worse than that. At Demigo...

I guess that depends on the content of the game, because not all levels are created equal. If the higher-level character's superior power is mostly restricted to combat (say, Races of War combat classes) then a lower-level wizard could still be a very useful addition to do social shenanigans, transp...

re: Morrowind I recall Destruction magic scaling really, really badly in the unmodded game, so you'd probably want to use a bow or crossbow while levitating. With the added benefit that physical damage is never going to reflect and get you killed by your own best attack. Also, Levitation had two chi...

@Korwin: I think you mean Nivesen, and for me their names and habitat are an indication they're primitive quasi-finnish people. .. an interesting aside about TDE is the tendency for people to actually use those races in some of the cheesier character builds. Nivesen, in particular, have pretty favor...

A better question is why you need spellcasting PrCs at all. Don't spellcasters already have enough abilities to choose from as it is? I don't think spellcasting PrC are any more conceptually invalid than PrCs in general. They should be made when a player wants to focus on a theme (and thus get focu...

@Wrathzog: It really would depend on the society in question, and the job that slaves are supposed to do. Treatment can differ vastly in the same society - slaves for menial tasks led a pretty bad life in ancient rome. The same ancient rome had slaves tasked with educating the children of the patric...
