The stealth budget idea works for the basic scenario. Probably at a minimal cost. Whether the autodetects autodetect or cost varying amounts against your stealth budget (probably less if you disable the alarm or have counter-countermeasures) is a question to be answered.

One other difference though is that having seen something similar done once, there will certainly be those that try to make their own version of PF 1 (with house rules) and sell it. Some outfit named Purple Duck Games is putting out their Porphyra Roleplaying Game to try and take advantage of Paizo ...

The goal of Pathfinder has always been to be 'D&D, but better' or at least 'D&D, but more so', right? Whether they succeeded is another matter. PF2 looks like someone's been wanting to do D&D 4e better for the last decade or so and has finally got around to publishing their D&D 3.x/4...

Some annoying differences which remind me of D&D 4e. Spells with short durations and very limited effects, feats intended only for very narrow and predefined character paths, some hit point inflation especially for 1st level monsters and major enemies like dragons. At least the poor book organis...

What do you need alignments for? If it's for D&D game elements like smite evil that's one thing, but if it's character description that's another. Getting people to write down a few quick notes about their character doesn't require alignments. Even in D&D it's easy enough to set up divisions...

One more thing that's undefined IIRC is whether the caster is immune to going nuts at the sight of flame they conjured. It's not just taking damage, even seeing fire has a check for Rotshreck involved.

Traveller:2300 had a 'stutterwarp' drive which moved the ships around without giving them inertia, and which allowed them to see the universe around them. The drive moved the ship in and out of their version of hyperspace many times a second. That much worked in the game, a shame the setting wasn't ...

Is anyone trying to solve this problem technologically? Rolling physical dice is really too integral to D&D to go away quietly, so entirely electronic dice rollers are probably out, but if there was a die with simple LED displays that you could program to just directly show totals for rolls it ...

So Goblins as core Drizzet syndrom or heading all the way straight to Kender? Could be like Drizz't, could not, but killing annoying goblins is acceptable in most parts of Golarion. Kender syndrome should be avoided. Edit: Well, unless you get your RPG fix from Pathfinder Society (aka organised pla...

They seem to be breaking bits off the system and associating each bit with a class - only fighters can make AoOs, only rogues can catch people flat-footed - which I think will make it difficult to import monsters or other classes sensibly. Also the monsters are supposed to be made by taking the numb...

How's this for an overly-specific feat? Take the 4th-level feat Quick Reversal, for example. If you are being flanked and you miss with your second or third attack against one of the flankers, this feat lets you redirect the attack to the other target and reroll it, possibly turning a miss into a hi...

It looks like the plan for the playtest involves a premade adventure. I guess people paying for those have always been Paizo's bread and butter, but this also looks tailor-made to miss problems that don't occur in the situations in that adventure.

Human hair can be long enough to be usefully woven into bowstrings (and to perform well in that role) so I expect it'd make OK rope. Dunno about the rest.

How expensive is this case likely to be for Paizo? Slap on the wrist and don't do it again, a painful fine, or file for bankruptcy time? You hear bad things about the American legal system but I've no experience with it.

You could also tie clerics even more closely to their gods, and make them direct agents who must do the will of their patron. Been there, done that. The result seems to be that no one wants to play the cleric. The possible risks of weaselling out of jobs are obvious enough that people don't try con...

The Imperium has huge numbers of retired/'detached duty' scouts wandering around precisely so they have eyes all over the place in the event of a war. The shifter's limited to non-metal armor if it wants all its class features - but since dragonhide exists this just means it can't use random looted armor. Here's a ~English medieval price list you might find useful. Originally from the Pendragon RPG which was detailed, and possibly well researched - I don't know enough to tell.

Closer to the primary source but less useful for an RPG, Here's a historian on English medieval prices.

They did look at core classes first - the unchained rogue did well, the unchained monk is hanging on, the unchained barbarian sank without a trace. The barbarian was the only one of those definitely simplified, the monk is simpler in that you don't need archetypes to make it at all playable, the rog...
