Thread on ENWorld. Perhaps a relief? Looks like work on D&D Essentials is done, no?

Yeah, I'm with Lago on this one. I don't believe that being forced to go against fluff in order to be effective is a positive thing, and if you have boring NPC priests, their domains should not be ones available to your cool PC clerics. The problem is, CharOp wouldn't exist if more people would agr...

Oh dear... I admit freely that I liked some of SKR's stuff - mor fluff-wise than from a mechanical point of view - but that link made me cry in pain. I am ashamed, I mean, really. This guy was there when 3rd edition was made, he really should know better, especially several years afterwards. Argh...

Not to mention that by definition it's extra calculation. If the duration is a flat 8 hours, that's easier to figure out than 1 hour/level, which constantly changes as your character levels up, gets negative levels or whatever. So to include per level scaling, there really needs to be a good reason...

That's fair. I'm guessing a 5 level class, then PrCs, right? Or, go all out and write up outsider classes? I like his idea a lot! Problem is, if you make these 5 levels too good, everyone dips into themand the figter class itself is meaningless again (slightly different from now, but similar). You ...

He also wrote Dungeonscape, so what did you expect? :) Ok, seriously, I agree with you, even while I missed the whole PF open testing thing and crawled through a lot forum postings and links afterwards, it seems pretty stupid what the made out of it. Even without all these examples, ideas and usgges...

I've looked at these rules, and they seem... Wrong. A Wizard or Sorcerer's familiar seems to follow them, but a Ranger or Druid's Animal Companion just seems... Stupid. I've never actually allowed these classes into my games because they didn't seem to match up to the other classes, but sheesh. Why...

Hey wow, this bard look very interesting. It isn't in the Tome, is it? Never seen it before... I really like the approach with 4+Int skills and skill focus, looks different from rogues and thats good. Has anyone played this class yet? I'm curious how it performed within a party. The only thing I not...
