Against my better judgement I read some of it. The most interesting thing, make that 'interesting' choice is you can buy up to 8th level spells with feats. What should happen, when Paizo notices that everyone is taking Wizard casting, is they make a concerted effort to balance the game. What will ha...

So they released a book a few weeks ago with archetypes that give Fighters and Rogues spell casting. Fighters lose some random fighter crap and get Bloodrager casting and cantrips. Better than a vanilla Fighter, still not sure how useful that is. The Rogue loses some standard Rogue crap, like SA pro...

The Gaming Den... I need your help. Someone's asking me for a level 14 gish build for a game and they insist on having something like the Magus's Spell Combat feature. Of course, Magi suck horse anus and I've been wracking my brain trying to come up with a way to reduce the suck. Right now, my plan...

I just had a scary thought. The buzz on Unchained is pretty negative so far. Maybe the higher ups at Paizo will get the idea that the fan base doesn't want drastic change (ie improvements). Pathfinder 2.0 is just a reshuffling of abilities, severe enough to require buying more books but addressing n...

Paladin and Ranger used to be Monk bad. The group was better off when that player didn't show up that week. In Pathfinder having the Ranger show up, if he's built well doesn't actively detract from the groups success. It doesn't do much to advance it either. I still consider that an improvement thou...

The Summoner is broken. In the sense that if the average Timmy who plays the Summoner has trouble keeping track of all his class features and will slow the game to a crawl at least once a combat to summon some novel monster. So the fix will be to nerf it by reducing its options. Pathfinder is not ma...

Which one is that? Considering the number of ways in Pathfinder to cheat some non-class spells into your own list, I think this one only offends because it had to be a wizard archetype, just to rub it in. It's called Spell Sage . Most similar options in Pathfinder give you a fixed list, either one ...

There is a new pathfinder Wizard archetype that lets them cast any spell from the Bard, Cleric or Druid list a few time per day on a delay. They have to give up school specialization to do it, so what could have been awesome is now just meh. Back in 3.5 I never could have conceived them doing this. ...

From what I seen it won't let you get 2x CHA to saves, but it pretty much kills the Paladin 2 dip. If you take this feat with divine grace all you get is a measly +1. This is a really strong feat. I like that, I think feats should be strong and affect characters. What they really should have done is...

Re: OSSR: ACKS Player's Companion
Next up: Custom class creation; Or, how to fail badly at a difficult task I'm really looking forward to hearing someone else's thoughts on this. I like that they attempted it, but my reading of it left me feeling that they really didn't understand how options varied in power, and just assumed class...

Book of Nine Swords classes and the Warlock, with a bit of optimization, should be able to handle level appropriate challenges all the way to 20. Does the Artificer count as a full caster? If not it could definitely work. I find that for most published adventures the bar is actually pretty low, and ...

The history of trapfinding rogues from 1E to Pathfinder goes: (a) only rogues (thieves) get a find/remove traps skill (1E) (b) everyone gets a find/remove traps skill, but only a PC with one level of rogue can find/remove magical traps (3E) (c) everyone gets a find/remove traps skill, but only a PC...

Mummy's Mask has a trait called Trap Finder which obsolete's the Rogue's one remaining niche. http://www.d20pfsrd.com/traits/campaign-traits/mummy-s-mask/trap-finder If you have access to this trait you can handle traps about as a Rogue can. The Paizo forums are buzzing about this and some erratas r...

This is from the Samsaran race entry on the d20pfsrd. Rogue The rogue gains 1/6 of a new rogue talent. Wizard Add one spell from the wizard spell list to the wizard's spellbook. I think the average gamer at the average game store never truly experiences CoDzilla or a real Wizard. Or any truly optimized character. That why people still think a monk or a fighter is still a valid choice, because their buddy's fireball Sorcerer or healstick Cleric doesn't make them feel underpo...

The Pathfinder forums are interesting form afar. Like with the whole Rogue debate, it's like their community is trying to realize that their game is balanced. However the culture that the mods and parts of the community enforce prevent them from having the type of debate that used to happen on 339. ...
