The great thing about commission is that working really hard makes you earn more money. The terrible thing is that if you don't work, you don't make money.

I dunno, I did rather like the "Gub'ment Cheese" idea.
It should at least be a build, or a character name.

Unfortunately, adventures aren't independent of characters. So if you cyber up to be permanently adapted to punching dolphins, every story from then on deals with undersea wildlife. And if one guy does that, and the other maintains open slots to deal with other environments, the other is a sucker be...

While you maximize profits by socializing costs and privatizing gains, and you do that by being a contractor rather than the government per se - many rich people seek power rather than simply bigger piles of money. Gazprom would probably make more money if it just bribed some politicians to have th...

Is Stanley Sargent actually important, or was he just the reviewer's favorite author?

It's loss of nerve function, based on eye pressure. Weed drops your blood pressure and famously affects nerves. I don't know any specific mechanism, but it's very plausible.

Buckle up; it's a three-drink rant: Tangent: if you can learn actual engineering before you graduate, you should do that. That's not a put-down: I also majored in engineering, and was only even exposed to actual engineering by fortunate chance. I don't think I've ever met anyone who learned it as an...

Don't, don't, don't break up monsters by body part and treat each body part as a separate monster. That has worked in exactly one place ever and that place was the first seven Final Fantasy games. Woah, I'm going to have to say fuck you on that one. It also worked in Grandia . Distinction without a...

As someone whose major is actually called software engineering I can tell you that software engineer, software developer, programmer and coder are all valid things to call someone who writes the code, with the last one meaning just that and the ...

I think they are popular enough that if your full-fucking-time job is writing D&D RPGs, how the fuck do you miss them? It may be that Tomes, K and Frank aren't well thought of everywhere, but I think on most D&D-centric RPG boards a lot of people do have opinions on em. My experience here c...

I have a set where two of the lids fit more than one pot. Listing the lids as pieces was more literally correct than any other description. It's also the number of things you have to put in the dishwasher, which is the truly important measure.

Could well be.

Either way, "engineer" usually implies design, not execution.

On the larger point, I'll note that there are four people total in Barbie's world. If she's talking to Skipper, any third party must be a man, and if she'd been talking to anyone else, the same conversation would have been patronizing. But I also don't think further discussion on that point is likel...

If I'm not getting this wrong, the only fully mixed Nash equilbrium is paper half the time, then rock and scissors a quarter each. It looks like a fairly terrible book.

But, I am somewhat confused that Barbie being a designer who directs male peon programmers is an offensive example of female disempowerment.
