Monte is back on D&D btw..

Shadzar, yeah I too feel that way. That Mearls dictates how I should play D&D. Heck 4e designers told me I can only throw sand in eyes when I am a level 7 rogue.

For those that aren't impressed with the Polymorph spell, how you guys deal with it? Do you prefer the 3rd, PF or 4e ones? Or just flat out ban the spell?

Love the title thread..

I just go back to pre-WOTC D&D. For supported ones I go for C&C or Dragon Age. I also use Savage Worlds but would be the last resort for running fantasy genre. Heck I'll just grab a free retro clone and point the newbies to it and get a game going..

Didn't WOTC just told everyone to ignore the magic item rarity rule on their latest article?

And I used to go to 4e forum and get annoyed with them fanbois..nowadays I only pity them..

Thing is, we all know that 4e was influenced by MMO and intended to attract the MMo crowd, but why are those 4e hardcore fans still deluded and think 4e is the best thespian rpg ever?

Well it's not exactly hard to believe it. With the Rules Compendium taking over as the de facto rules bible, PHB1 classes are all translated to Essentials save the warlord and Monster Vault updating the iconic monsters found in MM1, why not?

God I'd love for Wizards to ditch 4th's obsession with World of Warcraft play mechanics. In fact, I wish the owners of the D&D IP would fire every person who tries to rip off an idea from WoW mechanics shamelessly, and then blackball them from the industry. Never happen, but I can dream can't I...

So, when September comes and the redbox appear in stores, will it be a massive hit that shelves will be emptied in few hours? Hehe.

Wonder how many preorders are done through Amazon. I can assume that only the Rules Compendium would be popular.

It seems that the 4e ToH is a poor attempt to cash in on D&D legacy, whatever that is. Instead of creating a new adventure, or redesigning a decent module, they pick a gonzo tournament module to recreate. From what I have seen it will be worse than the orginal...Yet unlike the original it will ...

Well, to me the healing surges are the biggest sinners. Suddenly the fighter can't go on even if there is a lake of healing potion next to him. At least back then we could tell the wizard to shut up and grab a crossbow. The next D&D Encounters event has Dark Sun adventure where it is made up of ...

Ok, i read all 3 editions of that ToH encounter. The 4e one seems like a normal roll initiative and fight routine. I like the old AD&D one where you can befriend the Siren and cure idiocy.

Well, Green Ronin's Dragon Age would be the better intro rpg. To me, the only people who will buy Essentials are current 4e fans. The redbox will be bought just for the cover and for gifts to nephews and kids. The tilesets will be bought by current 4e fans, since the original tilesets are overpriced...

Is D&D the only rpg that totally disregards legacy and redefined gameplay? It feels WOTC just changes D&D for the sake of changing just because they can. Look at what they did with Forgotten Realms. They could easily reboot it to the old greybox if it was too cluttered but no, they had to pu...
