The owlbear almost looks like it could actually pass as a team name and mascot which is what makes it my favorite. Thanks for sharing.

At 10th level a factotum can cast solid fog and black tentacles in the same round. They can follow up by retreating into a rope trick. Bullshit. Any DM would reach across the table and slap the fuck out of the person doing that. Please tell me you're not suggesting that the factotum player do that ...

I had a great time with Mount & Blade about a year ago. The mounted combat and castle siege/defense was what really sold me. Mounted combat feels really satisfying. The player can ride through a group of the enemy and drop a flurry of slashes wounding and killing masses. Plus nothing lives up to...

I liked that monsters were visible on the main map. I honestly used that to avoid most combat. Boss battles were challenging, sure -- but I didn't lose them except for two. The ability to set tactics for the team was pretty appreciated. As Crissa said, if you set your mage to 'show no mercy' for ins...

Oh wow, that defense combo is amazing. On metal slimes etc: I'm not sure why they were made so much easier than in previous games. Not only are they more easily killed with all the awesome abilities, but they don't run away nearly as much as in previous games. Like, in DW III I remember specifically...

Well, damn.

How much of the postgame have you done, Roy? I started beating the grottos, but it wasn't too appealing. I felt like I would have to grind a lot to get the better grottos and then grind more to get better classes for beating them.

Yeah, a lot of the people that I've talked to have said that the best way to play through DQ9 is "buff fighters, heal as needed, murder everyone", but I wonder if there's an equally viable all-caster strategy. I guess I'm going to find out soon enough! Jacking up the Staff skill can...

DQ IX was a lot of fun. I took my first party from Dragon Warrior III: the hero, a martial artist, a cleric and a mage. Pump the two melee dudes up -- max out their weapon skills and level in multiple classes to grab as many bonuses to their physical attributes as possible. Then have a cleric to dro...

It was the board ID of the old Wizards of the Coast D&D character optimization board. I guess saying 'three-three-nine' saves typing.
