Shadowrun 4th edition rocks boldly into the past...?

http://www.shadowrun4.com/2012/07/the-past-returns-shadowrun-2050-now-live-for-pdf-purchase-print-pre-order/ Ok, I know that no one really wants to see Hardy's idea of SR 5. A part of me is really happy that they aren't going there because he'll just fuck it up. But instead releasing a book about t...

So, there's a rules effect which makes them prone then? Are you seriously bitching that 3.5 doesn't have a rule that says people have to lie down to rest? -Username17 No. I said that you can MTP waiting until a guard is prone or taking a leak or whatever (MTP because there are no rules for when it ...

Mearls on Monsters here. In which he reveals that he's designing monsters to fit flavor, but is largely pulling numbers out of his ass. Oh, and it's based of the 4e system. Damn it. I can dig that he's going back and pulling info from earlier editions, but that stat block... Maybe I'm playing too m...

I had forgotten about how stupid that Marienbad Council bit was. It was offensive, but it was drastically over shadowed by "Work Brings Freedom". I had forgotten though about how ridiculous and unnecessary the Marienbad piece was. Magical ore? I don't recall there being any in the current ...

Before I sent any money that way I wanted to be clear on how much involvement CGL had with the project. Hater's gonna hate, right? Harebrained Schemes said that while CGL is "supporting" the project, they won't be working on it. Good to hear, and it might get me to drop a few bucks in the ...

I asked them if Catalyst has anything to do with the project. That would be a deal breaker for me at this point.

SRO would have been a great idea three years ago. You can say that for a lot of things Shadowrun related.

Now you have the ship steered by the dregs of CGL and the die hard fans, who by this point qualify as undead.

Nasty thought over here; the only ones who care seem to be us and the guy who owns the site.

Ask anyone who isn't affiliated with the game at this point and you'll get one of two responses:

1) "Shadowrun? What's that?"

or

2) "Shadowrun? They still make that?"

And finally, what Bobby could do is what the people who wrote SoLA drafts did--either release their unedited drafts, or make sure they contact the editors. Notice how Jong-Won Kim made a point about doing that. All Bobby had to do was put out unedited drafts, and then he is not taking advantage of ...

Dead on. The key issue you're seeing right now is a weak line developer. He can't manage the resources he has to move the line forward and he doesn't understand the product or the setting enough to have that vision that he needs. Jason, I don't care how much you edited. Here is an interesting bit of...

Even if astral space and AR/VR are essentially overlays to the "real world" they still function the same as splitting up the party when you get down to it.

I was at a party at my brother's apartment and showed a friend the website for Leviathans. Since then my brother has lost his girlfriend and moved to Kentucky. Sounds like someone needs to go back to playing 4th ed. That's where I go if I want that good old rock scissors paper game play. Didn't bring AoE damage? These swarms are going to eat you then! The first parts were "railroady" because they were part of alinear story. You have to be walked through the first few chapters before you can understand and be walked through the last chapters. It's not everyone's cup of tea as a RPG format, but if you're not into it then don't run it. Or ...

Frank's comment still stands. They can claim that just by working with the current license holders for the table top and digital versions because both Jordan and Jason wrote for the game. The fact they haven't said who they've worked with is a pretty clear sign they haven't reached out too far. To d...

There's nothing left to hate.

What could they do at this point that could get anyone's blood boiling? And not even in a bad way; they are simply unable to produce anything or remarkable quality and there is nothing sacred left to incite the rage of those who remember when Shadowrun was good.

Adding plot protection is a poor but sometimes necessary story telling mechanic. Running a GM PC that spends any time in the spotlight or serves a core function can be called a Mary Sue. If these two are abused together I see your point. But it isn't hard to see that they should not be. Don't blame ...

The IEs are fine, because they're so few and far between they don't ever need to come up. The current CGL killing one off is just a sad attempt to make themselves feel legitimate in the most futile manner. They already stated characters that haven't been stated in 20 years, now they wanna kill one o...

I like lurking here, and posting my own silly opinions from time to time. TGD users make me laugh, and they use proper grammar, spelling and language*. Even when they're posting obscene multi-layered insults. That's what I didn't see on the SR4 boards anymore, and with both games i took part in goi...

I think I was worried at first about posting here, about getting yelled at, but I found out a secret. I was doing it wrong. The type of posting Critias is talking about is all about pre-screening your words and wordsmithing to point where there's most likely more effort in the shape of the words tha...

Critias, If you think it's easy to ignore angry people you're missing the point. I find it much easier to ignore those posts by people who are spending the majority of their effort to keep things civil. I don't have time to sample waffling, I want some fucking meat. If I see someone drop a steaming ...

But you have to take the lumps with it. If I didn't care about criticism, I wouldn't have come here in the first place, man. I would never have told anyone my real name, what chapters of books I've written, and I wouldn't be incorporating some of that criticism into my own unofficial errata etc, et...
