Important note to reiterate is that honest doesn't necessarily mean neutral. Right now if CGL puts out a mediocre project they are going to get slammed for it. Because it isn't going to move the needle from the bad position they're already in. Whether it's fair or not doesn't matter, it's honest. If...

The official forums are indeed a mess, and I've always found the rep score to be a little culty. Jason wanted a positive feedback echo chamber, and with a significant amount of help he built one. It's the reason why I really don't give a shit about it or trust anything posted there. You can't. The D...

At this point, what are you expecting? It's not like they are suddenly going to get their shit together and start producing quality product. They've had a year and more to do that and now we're in a sea of colorful but ultimately lacking PDF releases and a book of poorly crafted stats for set piece ...

My favorite stupid monster is the hoopsnake. It's a snake that holds onto its own tail and rolls at you like a hula hoop. WHAT THE FUCK. The guy who described the structure of benzine (Kekulé) was inspired by a dream about snakes doing just that. Also, it's apparently been a thing since the 18th ce...

I ordered SR4A:LE back when I was still a fan. By the time they shipped it opening the box made me feel kind of sick. It even has a damaged corner from the slapdash job Randall's wife did. Shipping box was fine. Now the damn thing just sits on my shelf in what was left of the plastic. I haven't even...

CGL is fucking insane. Either that or they have to pay a premium to print books any more, and they're passing that cost onto the consumer. To my understanding, printing is an issue of volume. Printing a few hundred books costs MUCH more per unit that printing 100,000 books. That economy of scale me...

That was interesting enough to get me to post on the official forums again. Looks like I still had a little bit of give-a-shit.Stahlseele wrote:http://forums.shadowrun4.com/index.php? ... 5#msg65515
And this is basically EVERYTHING that's wrong with current shadowrun writing in one. single. posting.

Oh damn. So I got home and told my wife about the Spellslinger and how much it sucked. She clued me into Geisha from a previous book. Neutered bard with even less survivability and a distinctly questionable roleplay angle saddled with this gem: Tea Ceremony (Su) By spending 10 minutes preparing an e...

Spellslinger is the biggest piece of over-engineered crap I've ever seen in Pathfinder. They get some middling bonuses that destroy themselves 5% of the time and it only costs every useful class feature and half their spell casting utility. And at the end of the day they still have no armor and shit...

Funny you should bring this up. I'm building a Pathfinder character right now and I have opinions... * I should not have to pick a class or alignment. The choices that define the character of my character are made day to day. * Root abilities I purchase in order to gain access to some tree of other ...

That was the first I heard about possession traditions being banned as well. Doesn't seem that odd, living world games ban shit all the time. The fact they took that long to do it says something about the amount of care and attention given though. And the player base. Most folks I know have never ev...

I'm too tired to bitch about Shadowrun anymore. I'm too tired to care about Shadowrun anymore. I have about everything SR ever printed in English, and I packed it all into boxes. The game is done with me, and I'm done with it. God I hope I never get to this point. No matter how terrible Shadowrun's...

And quality is in the crapper. Even during the shit storm, what's left at CGL was squatting on their laurels while they drove away or shit canned the folks that made the awards and recognition possible. Now things are drying up and... Shadowrun is dying. It feels worse to me because I thought it was...

Ennie noms are out and Catalyst is looking lightly represented, Shadowrun more than ever. The games I know of are dying off around me and people are moving on. Shit, someone even suggested swapping SR for a cyberpunk themed NWoD game. How fucking sad is that? I told him we should just play Pathfinde...
