And when has it ever been different that a melee type has to take some feats to be a credible threat to Wizards after level three? Are we counting Spiked Chain Proficiency as spending a feat? -Username17 That one got nerfed in PF and also didn't do anything to higher level Wizards with maxed out Co...

Ah, well. We work from different premises. I wasn't talking about powertwinking the max out of the starting stats of a Wizard. Not would I ever want to play someone who has a 7 in Strength, Wisdom and Charisma. And when has it ever been different that a melee type has to take some feats to be a cred...

This is the problem with a SAD system. Int is all that really matters to Wizards, so its imperative they start as high as possible. It seems like you could balance this by making high stats more expensive so the player is incentivised to pick a few lower stats but this does not work . What happens ...

Well, of course you can start with an INT of 20, but unless your GM let's you roll stats or gives you more than the standard 15 points for attributes, that means you are either playing a paraplegic, someone who suffers from tourette ( or both at the same time ) or you are really Jonny Q. Average in ...

Uh, no? Casting defensively definitely is not automatic for most of a Wizards career. You will always succeed with the lower level spells, yes, but not with the high level spells. Examples: 9th Level Wizard casts a 5th level spell defensively: DC: 25 ; Check Bonus 9+7+4 ( CL + INT + Combat Casting )...

Yep, Pathfinder actually made squishy Wizards somewhat afraid of getting in range of melee. Step Up and it's subsequent feats even make the good ol' 5 foot step not the ultimate remedy anymore.

Anecdotal to be sure, but in my experience SR is only a fraction as popular as Battletech. I know of 1 GM who runs Shadowrun in Ontario, while there where about 6-7 people who ran Battletech events. I wish it was more successful, it's always struck me as a more interesting sandbox than Greyhawk or ...

Yeah, but what does it mean for Shadowrun and BattleTech? Does Catalyst remains with the license or will they lose it?

Eh, maybe it's because I haven't read Rise of the Runelords ( due to someone else maybe wanting to GM it ), but what else I've read is not that more grimdark than some of what Greenwood wrote for the FR.

I didn't notice, either. But then, that happens to me with foreign words sometimes. "Mayor" is - at the very least - Spanish. Yeah, trilingual here, sometimes the spelling is a bit screwed up. German, English and Spanish got some major ( ahem ^^ ) cross-over potential. That's also why I a...

Uh, FatR, how exactly does going on a rant about how "My PC is Superman and I want to rip up cities, dammit!" disprove my point about people here wanting to rip up cities? :p Not that I am accusing you of wanting to disprove it, but your first part of your message kinda contradicts the las...

Most APs end at level ~16 because it's even Paizo has lots of trouble selling their high level adventures, which gives the impression that as far as official support goes, PF campaigns in general don't progress past that. I've got at least anecdotal evidence, in that the PF-lovin' group I hang out ...

Does anyone know, why exactly Paizo tries to make their game so fucking grimdark, that Warhammer Fantasy's world perspectives are looking bright by comparison? It's not just those things you've mentioned, but the PC's inability to fight anything worth a damn. It's an explicit design goal that the m...

Eh, I think a good number of things I've read here about the technical problems of Pathfinder are correct. But then the on the last pages we got extended "They suck!" posts over the beta playtest of the Magus, which I think is premature. If the Magus doesn't get better in its final incarna...

0/10, try harder Seriously, the least you could do is come up with something vaguely original or clever. Really? For a place where the mayority of people chortle into their tea about "Pathfailure" and "Paizils", I think the term is not any less imaginative. What majority? Well, ...

So, what's the specific bit of wording on that one? A large portion of the Battletech fans (myself included) would be happy to see the most current storyline retconned. Battletech hasn't had any major continuity edits so far, but that doesn't mean its fans aren't amenable to the idea. Oh, gods, that would be sweet. Can anybody go and really annoy Bi...
