According to Myers himself, the "breaches" the community took most seriously were:
1. Droning/tp-killing/etc (most serious)
2. Killing fight club/pve players
3. Refusing to group with other heroes

Capturing pillboxes, in itself, was fine. So yes, he sometimes ignored pillboxes to "oppose hero/villain collusion" and drone farming villains.

I do find it remarkable that this professor is being paid to write a paper about trolling in a videogame.

I don't. Virtual worlds and virtual communities are new, shiny and probably important too. Plus, you can do experiments you couldn't do in real life (or only with a much larger budget). Seems logical to me to study them.

With teamspeak and internal chat pograms logging in an MMOG is not so different from calling friends by phone. People are already scheduling their free time according to online events as well, and socializing through such channels. MMOGs are an important part of life, not just in Korea, and the resulting social structures should b studied.

This discussion reminds me of an old Penny Arcade comic:

Damn right, Jesus!
Current pet peeves:
Misuse of "per se". It means "[in] itself", not "precisely". Learn English.
Malformed singular possessives. It's almost always supposed to be 's.
