I'm siding with Kaelik, I typically hold the door open if I'm aware anyone's right behind me regardless of gender or whether I want to bone them, it's just common courtesy.

Yeah, it was drilled into me by my mother and grandmother at a young age, but especially for women, to the point that a man should go out of his way to get to the door first. This pissed off my first (straw-feminist) girlfriend to the point that it got drilled out of my head, and has led to irritation when attractive female friends fawn over my excessively chivalrous friend.

College was less good for me, but I was a non-traditional student and over a decade older than my classmates. And kids these days piss me off (Although it's hilarious to argue with a 19 year old bagger who gets mad and wants to fight for demolishing his arguments. Even funnier when he wants to fight the econ teacher for telling him that his political movement makes no economic sense.)

I actually am amongst the youngest students in my class (more due to the fact that a good number are 30 and older who've decided it's time to say fuck it to the grind), but even the young students in my classes... most of them are in committed relationships.

The problem is that the woman who gets pissy at you for holding the door open is probably pissy because you just did it. She has no way of knowing whether or not you hold the door open for everyone - she's judging based on a sample size of one. And because gender's the lens through which she views the world, you are obviously holding the door open because she's female, not because she's blond, tall, hot, human, behind you, has her arms full, etc, etc.

There is obviously only one proper comeback for people like that: "Sorry. I used to be a doorman."

I am not arguing that lots of feminists are irrational people "based on my tiny sample" I am arguing based on the fact that 80% of all people are retarded, and there is no compelling reason to believe that only the 20% every identify as feminists. The fact that my not tiny sample seems to comport with about an 80% retard rate seems to indicate that the subset of people who are feminists is proportioned about the same as general people with respect to stupidity.

I did know one guy who had cystic fibrosis (we both played Living Greyhawk, he has since passed tho) and he'd often get pissed at people holding the door for him and would say in a nasty tone "I can get it myself!" I presume he didn't like people treating him like an invalid.

He never got nasty with me for holding the door though, again I am presuming, but probably because he saw me doing it for anyone.
