Those spells are really broken. But honestly, I was thinking more in terms of old school Shadowrun Shamanism, where you talked to the spirits of wherever you happened to be and pulled in entirely temporary assistance from those spirits continuously.

Okay, fine by me. I've been playing a Spirit Shaman and learning that most of what he does for a really long time is make himself virtually unkillable with Blink and Ethereal Jaunt and Ghostform, and Glitterdust people. And wait for everyone else to do the actual killing. Having a robust Summon Spirit list will certainly go a long way to making combat more interesting.

When you say that the spirit guide only exists on the Ethereal plane, does that make the spell make manifest not do anything (possibly even just make it not exist for the duration)?
