Looking for a light-hearted RPG

Post by angelfromanotherpin »

So, a number of people in my regular group have had their schedules go to crazy town for a while, and while they still show up, their concentration is way down. So we're looking for a new game to fill in until things settle down again. A simple system that supports hilarious misadventures. Any suggestions?

I always liked Toon, but I haven't played it for a while.

Just a heads up... Your post is pregnant... When you miss that many periods it's just a given.
I want him to tongue-punch my box.

Danger Patrol looks interesting.

and while I have no idea if it's in or out of print, you could also check out Teenagers from Outer Space

Paranoia is an old stand-by.

There's also Fiasco.

I've heard good things about Monsters and Other Childish Things, but have no actual experience with it.

Second this, as long as your group doesn't hold out-of-character grudges.

Also Gamma World (1E, as explained in another thread). Produces quirky but disposable characters and supports weirdness.

I wholeheartedly second Maid, as long as they don't mind Being the Little Girl.

There's also Wandering Monster High School, which is pretty simple and fun.

Kobolds Ate My baby? All Hail King Torg! For it contains Fatty Goodness.

I once played a game of Maid (back in the Edition Wars days of sup/tg/, arguments would be solved by everyone playing Maid and thus forgetting about D&D. We decided Maid could be the new edition: Skub Edition), where we played tennis. Against an invading group of maids. Who were Nazis.

That's basically how Maid is supposed to go, too. It can be seriously awesome.

A character generator: http://suptg.thisisnotatrueending.com/maidrpg.html

(Note that such options as "You are a ghost. And a robot. Also a demon." are not mistakes of the software, the actual rules allow all that)
