Is it unreasonable for me to try to play 3 early-games at once, working on the premise that by the 20-30 minute midgame turns I'll be eliminated from at least one game?

You can do it! (the 8? games I am in, might be a little to much)
That gives us 8 players, and zero sea power. So we'd be looking for a map with no more than 120 and no fewer than 80 land provinces. Number of sea provinces is not much of a concern. If no one has any suggestions, I'll just make one.
So far, no one has elected to pick the same first choice, so everyone gets their first choice:
Frank Trollman: Sauromatia
Zinegata: Ulm
Angelfromanotherpin: Tien Chi
Winnah: Pangaea
Gnosticism Is A Hoot: Fomoria
Ancient History: Caelum
Ikeren: Hinnom
K: Lanka
That's 3 human positions, 2 giant positions, 2 beastman positions and Caelum which plays kind of like a human position but aren't literally humans.
Oh, have you guys started? If not, sign me up as EA Abysia. Also I enjoy making life difficult for people who volunteer to make maps. Huzzah!

There are a few 'Harbour' provinces, marked with an anchor, that allow travel to the central island, or from the central island to the closest harbour.
Island provinces have a higher magic freq.
Provinces marked with a town or city have a higher population.
That would work fine. Alternately, I could make one. For example: I could make a dominions map out of a random fantasy game map I found online (I think this might be Dragon Age):

Would like to see this map anyway.
Only concern is, those water provinces look huge...

I mean, I'm pretty sure the Mayans had a prophecy about what would happen if Frank and PL ever agreed on something. PL will argue with Frank that the sky is blue or grass is green, so when they both separately piss on your idea that is definitely something to think about.
That map looks pretty good. Let me know if I can provide some assistance with the .map file, if you decide to go ahead with creating a map. Checking adjacent provinces are where they are supposed to be, ensuring start locations are fairly evenly distributed, that sort of thing.
The Thedas Map is up and working. It has 100 land provinces and 13 sea provinces. Every starting position can reach at least 5 and no more than 6 provinces, and no starting position is closer than 3 provinces from any other starting position.
Zinegata wrote:Looks good. VP conditions I assume? Can they be seen easily on the map?
The map is high resolution. If you pull back to see the whole map, the crowns are extremely small. Further, the mountains on the West end of the map are similar in color to the crowns, making the crown that will appear in province 33 hard to see.
I left the start positions unnamed, so your capital will be named "Ulm" wherever it actually is on the map. The rest of the provinces will be named after something written on them.
I could put it up on Dropbox, but it'll probably just be easier for me to drop the resolution and get it under the magic 20 megs. That'll make the VP crowns bigger too, so it's probably win/win. I'll do that after surgery tomorrow.
