I have not found a lot options that are quite what you're looking for, and I'd rather not hack the template directly since I've already ruled against fan material. It's hard to be a robot in disguise in D&D at first level.Prak_Anima wrote:I mean, I'm happy with my pred as he is, but I might consider going with the other really good way of doing it I found, which is Lycanthropy.
He does have a point, and if I ever run another game like this I'll probably amend the rules. But for now, the surest way to catch shit is to try and please everybody, and I've already caught my fair share.Red_Rob wrote:My 2c - Kaelik does have something of a point, even though he is being a bit of a confrontational asshat about it.

In the name of granting A_H more options, I changed my alignment to Chaotic Good and swapped Sacred Healing out for Eyes of the Abyss. So now I have Darkvision 60' and can Spot slightly better (still not reliably), and Fiendish Codex I has been "unlocked". I suppose that means PHBII is "locked" again unless someone else used it, but that's less interesting to a DM anyway.
I'd change my race to a MM3 one to "unlock" that, but IIRC I don't actually like any of them.

I had the same problem. I thought I had saved my sheet, but I had to go back and add all the same stuff in a second time.Korgan0 wrote:Fucksticks, it must not have saved properly. I am curious, though, how you're managing 6 spells at level 1. Some kind of specialist wizard thing?
Edit: Prak, isn't there some "get all martial weapons" feat in the FRCS? It'd be a bit weird to mix that with Eberron material, but it should let you use whatever weapons you wanted.

I have an intelligence bonus of +5 with eighteen intelligence and the +2 from being old, which gives me two extra first level slots, for a total of five. I'm a diviner, having lost evocation, which gives me an extra divination-only slot. I forgot to change my class to diviner, which I'll do in a jiffy.
Also, there is a feat but I can't for the life of me remember what it is, Militia something, I think, but when I googled that I didn't get anything

Militia gives prof. in a pair of martial weapons, based on where you're from. I just need Shortsword and Hvy Shield, really, and have no reason to pick up a ranged weapon as I'm a warlock/have a wrist mounted blaster.
Also... dm rules, so whatever, but hacking a template isn't fan material to my mind, and it's really not that difficult to play a transformer at first level. Look how easily I explained why he doesn't have a beast mode.

Wouldn't the shield give you arcane spell failure, anyway? Or does that not apply for Warlocks.
I had to google the feat, since I was pretty sure I remembered something doing that. Turns out the "Otherworldly" feat makes you a Native Outsider, and proficiency with all simple and martial weapons is a trait of Outsiders ("unless otherwise noted in a creature's entry"). Shields, too. So, that's a bit of a stretch but if all it gets you is short swords, who cares. And your character certainly seems to be an Outsider, for what that's worth.
edit: if all you need is short sword and shield proficiency, that's two feats if you take the actual, awful proficiency feats. You could take some irrelevant flaws and just take the two proficiency feats, if it's a big deal.
Korgan, I'm still confused on your math. Two spells for intelligence and one for specializing should only give you four total. Or am I crazy?

I'd planned on making the die rolls, and reporting the results.
[/edit] Search results, if you feel like looting the dead:
* 46 copper pieces
* 5 platinum pieces
* 1 bronze great axe
* 3 silver rings of elven make
* 1 gold ring of dwarven make
* 1 dull grey floating gemstone

I'll roll the dice, thanks. Trust me, you'll get your crits honest.
[/edit]Missed your knowledge roll. Taking 10, you remember something you had read in a musty book of ancient legends as a student - something about how a strange race known as the Fallen had discovered the prison of the Mad God, a deity of pure chaos, and mistook it for a power source. In seeking to harness this power they cracked his prison, and this spelled the doom of their race...you cannot remember any more.

I recommend that we leave any switches or levers alone until we have explored and mapped what we can of the complex. That will make figuring out what they do and avoiding traps much easier.
If we end up crossing the pit, setting a 10-foot pole across would give a chance to catch yourself if falling. We'd have a foot of pole on either side, so slippage wouldn't be too big a problem. Someone in scale mail would probably snap the pole with their weight, though.
Given that there are both spikes and water at the base of the pit trap, are the spikes set in a grate or are they jutting out of the water itself?
If we want to check the pit for treasure, 2 or 3 people could hold a rope while another rappels down.

Sorry, was running my meatspace game. Aracanis has responded, and I've realized that "thermal vision" isn't an accurate description of his "See the Unseen" invocation, since, well, darkvision isn't heat vision....

Agreed about the levers. Pulling them should be a last resort. Is it too dangerous to remove armour in order to get over the pit?
About the floating gemstone, OOC thats possibly an ioun stone i guess. Does anyone have detect magic?

Shouldn't be an Ioun Stone, I'm pretty sure those go inert on the user's death. More likely a trap, but who knows?

2 10-foot poles and some canvas makes a fairly respectable bridge. A dog should be able to cross that fairly easily, especially if someone braces the bridge at each end.
The grislier and less reliable option for if we don't have enough cloth or rope is long bones from the bodies in room 00. But I assume we have some traveling cloaks at least. Rope can hold them in place.

That might work for the dog, but me and Dreiden are wearing armour, and Aracanis is made of metal, I don't think canvas or bones are going to hold us. There's a ledge that runs along the side of the pit. If one of us crosses the pit and then that person and someone from the first side hold the pole steady at arm height next to the ledge, we should all be able to cross by walking along the ledge and holding onto the pole for balance? The last person will have to cross pole-less, but they can tie the rope around themselves, or jump or whatever. Sound doable?
