This I gotta see..
He jumps like a damned dragoon, and charges into battle fighting rather insane monsters with little more than his bare hands and rather nasty spell effects conjured up solely through knowledge and the local plantlife. He unerringly knows where his goal lies, he breathes underwater and is untroubled by space travel, seems to have no limits to his actual endurance and favors killing his enemies by driving both boots square into their skull. His agility is unmatched, and his strength legendary, able to fling about a turtle shell big enough to contain a man with enough force to barrel down a near endless path of unfortunates.

Zak S, Zak Smith, Dndwithpornstars, Zak Sabbath. He is a terrible person and a hack at writing and art. His cultural contributions are less than Justin Bieber's, and he's a shitmuffin. Go go gadget Googlebomb!

There's lots of optional easy-to-miss stuff. I uploaded some save files before and after the first dungeon, in case somebody would like to bypass the early grind.Maxus wrote:This I gotta see..

Dwarf Fortress still delivers on insane fun. It's free and ranges from impossibly hard to "I'm gonna need a better computer for this fort to keep going."
I'm assuming this isn't new to you, as the game has been in development for 20 years and has had a fairly high profile for at least the last 5. But maybe I'm wrong, in which case you should start with this newb pack. It is very much worth playing.

I thought this was particularly nice for a browser game

This one might be too artsy for its own good, but I still think it's quite an experience if you approach it from the right perspective and get multiple endings.

"Daniel Blackburn's Dog Game #1 is all about survival, while causing an increasing sense of claustrophobia. The game is literally trying to close itself as fast as possible, as enemies cause the game window to move and shrink. "
Fascinating from an abstract game design perspective, and I had fun playing it.

Apparently a Barkley-esque RPG take on Citizen Kane.

So you're being forced to play a game without fully understanding the rules, and your main source for info is the bizarre but clearly malicious people playing against you? Sounds interesting.

openttd is Transport Tycoon Deluxe with a total replacement for the game engine, graphics, sound, and music, plus a whole bunch of improvements from years of fan patches that let you build crazy-ass complex train networks.
http://www.simutrans.com/download
simutrans is an uglier game (well, only pak64 is up to date) with most of the community working in German, but it's the same basic thing only it makes TTD feel like a kid's game. The crazy-ass complex networks with feeder systems and stuff you can eventually make in openttd are required to avoid rapid bankruptcy in simutrans. Bankruptcy can be switched off, so fear not for beginners.

Peculiar properties of spacetime ensure that the perception of the magnitude of Soon is fluid and dependent, not on an individual's time-reference, but on spatial and cultural location. A marketer generally perceives Soon as a finite, known, yet unspeakable time-interval; to a fan, the interval appears greater, and may in fact approach the infinite, becoming Never. Once the interval has passed, however, a certain time-lensing effect seems to occur, and the time-interval becomes vanishingly small. We therefore see the strange result that the same fragment of spacetime may be observed, in quick succession, as Soon, Never, and All Too Quickly.

Quest for Glory inspired RPG/adventure game. I've been anticipating its completion for years.

A "minimalist text adventure" with some really cool ideas about evolving the experience. It's better to start playing without spoilers, and stick with it a little while even if things seem a bit dull. However, I also think that it's slow enough to start that you might want to have other work or reading material to focus on while waiting for ingame cooldown timers.
I've played through twice, and there is a moderate amount of replay value based on the choices you make.

Roguelikes and other procedural death labyrinths are generally about balancing the need to explore and find new resources and equipment with the need to avoid conflict as much as possible in the name of survival. Though only in alpha, MidBoss already does something different: the enemies that can kill you also are the resources and equipment you need to progress.
