I have never had an issue with micro-usb. The products attached to them, sure, but never with the micro-usb itself.
Cuz apparently I gotta break this down for you dense motherfuckers- I'm trans feminine nonbinary. My pronouns are they/them.

MicroUSB is a fucking terrible charging standard. And Apple is a fucking terrible company for patent-encumbering what should by all rights be the new industry standard.

Fuck MicroUSB and fuck Apple.

The damn thing keeps bending so it doesn't fit quite right anymore. I think that might be because I like checking stuff on my phone while it's plugged in.

i found a way around that for the most part:
phone with removeable battery, get an extra and an external charger.
when the one in the phone is empty, swap.

Peculiar properties of spacetime ensure that the perception of the magnitude of Soon is fluid and dependent, not on an individual's time-reference, but on spatial and cultural location. A marketer generally perceives Soon as a finite, known, yet unspeakable time-interval; to a fan, the interval appears greater, and may in fact approach the infinite, becoming Never. Once the interval has passed, however, a certain time-lensing effect seems to occur, and the time-interval becomes vanishingly small. We therefore see the strange result that the same fragment of spacetime may be observed, in quick succession, as Soon, Never, and All Too Quickly.

Ahaha, some people came here with the desire to do a photo of some of the staff and students showing off the new nice technology we have. The problem with this is of course that we don't have any. You know what great new things we have?
  • Rechargable batteries for the digital cameras
  • A colour photocopier.
If they just want expensive stuff, regardless of how long we've had it, then uh... the cameras themselves, I mean they're digital and they work at all. Oh and laptops. Some of them work.

It's just hilarious that they're trying to do a photo-op for the tech we don't have, compared to any private school or any school in the city.

(Anybody who works in a support position here, as opposed to ignorant teaching staff, wants the Minister of Education to resign. Or contract Dutch elm disease.)

Got quite a scare today when I recieved an email thanking me for purchasing a Kia I did not, in fact, purchase. Fortunately, it turned out to be for another guy with the same initials.

It is cold out. Single-digit Fahrenheit during the day.

We've got another 6-10 inches of snow coming this weekend to Indianapolis. Yesterday I was reading 8-14". Supposed to be the biggest snow of the season, for what was already about an inch shy of being a record breaking season in terms of total snow (but still not as effectively bad as 78-79 blizzard where the drifting made snow pile up to housetops according to my dad).

Most annoying is that schools are already out of snow day exceptions and trying to figure out how to get the required quota of school days in... and I don't see how they won't cancel school on Monday since the buses can't maneuver without nicely plowed streets. Streets which are destroyed by the cold and the plows, with potholes all over the place. I outright avoid some streets. Some spots were thankfully patched last week, but there's some maneater pot holes out there.

Man, and I was planning on painting my son's room with a construction vehicle and dinosaurs theme as a belated birthday present rather than shoveling snow all Sunday. Maybe I can get a base coat down anyway.

Wheeee

Hire a neighbour kid to shovel snow. $10 should be good, depending on age. If you really only have teens around, maybe go $20.

Since we aren't in the 60s, absolutely no on will shovel for you for 10 or 20 dollars, so if you are going to do that, be prepared to go way the fuck higher.

Depends on how small the walkway/driveway is and how much snow there is. Minimum wage is 7.25. If shoveling a single persons walk/driveway only takes half an hour (big if obviously), then that's double minimum wage for a person that can reasonably only demand minimum wage. Plus, kids are dumb. It only takes one chump.
Kids don't have bills to bay, and if you live in a suburb their parents make way more than that and it changes your expectations.

Being more than minimum wage is meaningless when it is not a steady source of income and it is hard work for people who don't fucking need the money and can't get anything they really want for 10 bucks.

As for one random idiot being willing, how many hours are you going to spend finding kids and asking them to shovel your lawn to get the one dumb one?

Yeah, my driveway is probably 120'+ worth since there's a lot more area at the base. If there's a foot of snow it ain't getting shoveled in under an hour. Last time snow came down heavily this winter I shoveled 3 times in one day to keep it from getting out of control.

Neighbor kids don't go door to door being entrepreneurs around here it seems anyway. Besides I'd rather shovel it myself than pay. If were gonna pay then I'd get a snowblower so that I could have fun with it.

I'm about done with the base coat for my son's room today. I'll hafta post pics when I'm all done with the detail stuff.

Yeah, I haven't seen neighborhood kids giong around being entrepeneurs in a long time. The one kid who did do it actually made a business model out of it and basically financed his college education and then ended up selling his business + client list to some random dude who ended up pissing it all away.

huh. Meh, if I were a kid and someone offered me $20 to shovel a (reasonable) walk, I would.

Hell, 20 bucks is two hours of moving furniture for me, so I'd take it with pleasure.

Hell, I've been helping friends move and they've been handing me a twenty each day I've helped, which is usually an hour of moving boxes. Today I helped 'em for about three and a half or four hours, taking breaks into account, and got two meals out of it. To say nothing of all the "we're not going to bother to move this, want it?" stuff.

Unless a ton of snow falls in the next few hours. It was a completely underwhelming 'storm'. Maybe 2-3 inches here. It wasn't worth shoveling it was so light.

Son was very happy with his room when he returned from grandparents tonight. Only complaint was that I didn't paint his bed. I still want to paint detailed stuff but I have the base coat and various decals up so it looks finished enuff fer now.

This week's going to suck.

One of my cousins died of a heart attack today. Only about forty years old. A little overweight, but otherwise healthy.

Nice guy. He'd been saving up for years to build a house...actually not far from me, come to think of it. For him and his family. A couple more years and they would have been able to just pay for it all outright.

And now he's dead.

Fuck.
He jumps like a damned dragoon, and charges into battle fighting rather insane monsters with little more than his bare hands and rather nasty spell effects conjured up solely through knowledge and the local plantlife. He unerringly knows where his goal lies, he breathes underwater and is untroubled by space travel, seems to have no limits to his actual endurance and favors killing his enemies by driving both boots square into their skull. His agility is unmatched, and his strength legendary, able to fling about a turtle shell big enough to contain a man with enough force to barrel down a near endless path of unfortunates.

--The horror of Mario

I just discovered that Rhythmbox will play zip files if they have music files in them.
