Let's go try the other door at room 1, or one of the corridors, so we don't have to risk messing with this dumb trap at all.

Huh, so I was missing something really obvious.

Second looking at the other door in room 1.

I remember there were rules in these editions for jamming the trap with pitons/a dagger or something. I mean, I think we're a bit stupid for not remember the solution, but very few of us face regular life-threatening pit traps.

(Since most people want to see where the Eastern door from Room 1 goes)

Gorman and Urlik retrace their steps to Room #1, and open the Eastern door, revealing...

Room #11
The light from the torch shows a room about twenty feet square on a side. The dwarf can see no other exits. There is a harsh chittering...something long and sleek skitters about the room, agitated by the bright light. The light of the torch flickers off dark fur, gleaming fangs, wicked claws...

Gorman has disturbed a nest of giant weasels!

Exclaim rudely the nature of the threat for our ally's benefit, slam door, step back, prepare to dance.

There are sounds of claws scrabbling against the door, but apparently the weasels cannot open it.

Urlik stares curiously at the door. "So...are those edible?"

"Maybe, but they'd try to make a meal out of us."

We could come back later and see if they are asleep, or have eaten each other being trapped in there.

Try eastern door in room 2 and see if it connects with the long hallway with the gas?

Sure, why not. Unless we saw treasure in the weasel room, we can postpone that fight.

Giant weasels are not a joke. They hit hard and soak punishment. OTOH, their pelts are super-val (probably enough to level us), and we have an ally who's literally immortal to claws and fills the entire doorway. Give him right of refusal.

"If you want to try new meat, I'll have your back, but you'll have to take point. If you're willing to wait, we might find easier chow elsewhere."

Then sure, let's try to close that Room 2 loop.

Urlik grunts and scratches himself. "Prefer the taste of two-legs anyway."

Room 2
The door opens to a larger room - still square, but 40 feet on each side. Holding the flickering torch high, Morgan can see four exits - one on the opposite wall (North), one on the left wall (West), one on the right wall (East), and another door on the same wall (South).

By the southern door are the corpses of men and goblins, much-eaten by rats.

Gorman opens the eastern door - and perceives that it opens into a corridor running north and south.

In that case, try north door from room 2.

The door opens to...

Room 12
This 20 foot-square room appears to be empty. There are no signs of other exits. Cobwebs fill the corners.

The western door opens to a corridor extending north and south.

Urlik has stripped the pants off of the bandit's corpse, and is squeezing into them. They don't fit very well, and only come up to the troll's calves, but he seems to enjoy having pants after all this time.

Go south, see if it takes us to Room 6, or if there's a small room.

Do that, but also compliment Url on his pants while trying very hard not to think about troll wang.

After about ten feet, the southern leg of the corridor ends at a set of stairs, descending into darkness.

After thirty feet past the door, Gorman notices a narrow side passage - only 5 feet wide - on his left, coming from the southwest.

I don't like that we'd have to go single file down that. Let's press on down the normal-width passage.

Sorry for the delay, I was in Florida for the weekend and just got back.
So...one person wants to go left, one person wants to go straight ahead. Can we get a tiebreaker?
