A light wound, but no reward, even of XP. Oh well, nothing to do but continue.Round 1: Christov [d6:2], Bear [d6:5]; bear has initiative. Bear uses claw/claw/bite routine. Claw [d20:18], hit for [d8] 6 damage. Claw [d20:7], miss. Bite [d20:1] miss and also:The beast roars and knocks your weapon aside. At the last minute you swat its nose. The beast howls in surprise and flees in panic.
Last encounter before getting to 8.
Finally, we reach our destination.[d20:7]
You meet a farmer returning home. He shares a rumor with you. (Rumors 1d8) [d8:7]The stream runs black from the raging sprite that chokes on its own bile. Beware its anger.
If leaving, pick another destination. At the end of the winding valley you find a cavern. A fearsome howl echoes from its depths. Will you leave or attempt to enter it?

A gust of wind blows from the cave and spins you about. Roll 1d20 [d20:9]
• If less than 15... √
• Otherwise tumble back one hex. x
Climbing out comes with a risk of falling and no upside over walking out, so I'll assume we don't do that. Where to next?Struggling against the wind, you step into the cavern. Towering spires glitter in the sunlight and calcium terraces form an unearthly diorama. The howling comes from the wind whipping through an opening in the 40-foot high ceiling. The place is abandoned. You may climb out.

We're due one RE before getting to 48. [20:17]
We reach 48.
Ahead, you spot several people in need. Roll 1d4. [d4:1]
How nice.Old folks offer you a cart ride. Move 8 hexes next turn and don't roll for an encounter.
We reach 48.
Just flavor, it seems. Where to next? The ground is pounded flat and, to either side, boulders are stacked to form titanic spires.

The thing is, I'm not sure what you might count as 'some clue.' I guess I'll set my thresholds to 'relatively flagrant.' Anyway, there's enough leftover on our hitchhike ride to get us to 9 without another random encounter.
The sound of snoring fills the valley. It stops at your approach. From behind a boulder, a leering giant steps.
• If you were beaten by him before, he roars and attacks...
• Talk?
• Fight?

"SO YOU LIKE GAMIN'. THIS HERE CONTEST IS EASY. I SET YOU THREE TASKS, AND IF YOU CAN BEAT ME, I'LL LEAD YOU TO ME TREASURE. IF'N YOU LOSE, I GETS MY PICK OF ONE O' YOUR BAUBLES."
• Continue? √
• Attack?
You nod your agreement. The giant picks up a boulder and crushes it between two hands. "LET'S SEE YOU BEAT THAT."
• Look for a brittle rock?
• Use a cheese to trick him?
• Attack?

You discover a weathered skull among the rocks. Roll 1d20. [d20: 8]
• If you roll less than 13... √
• Otherwise...
You crush the skull to powder.
HEY, NOT BAD RUNT. TRY THIS." The giant strides to one of the rocky pillars and pushes it over.
• Attack the giant?
• Attempt to push a pillar over?
• Try to use your wits to find a solution?

Studying the pillar, you see a key stone supports the weight of one side. You loosen the stone and then push. Roll 1d20. [d20:11]
• If you roll less than 5...
• Otherwise... √
Amazingly, the pillar topples.
At some point I mistakenly subtracted the small bird from our character sheet, but we definitely still have it.The giant glowers. "YOU'RE PRETTY TOUGH. LET'S SEE YOU TOP THIS." And he tosses a boulder some 200 yards.
• Attack him?
• Use a bird if you have one?
• Try to trick him?
