Hey, given who wrote this, I'm certainly not going to complain that for once he hadn't thrown a bunch of opponents with double-digit stats at us. Especially if we're supposed to collect those pendants like I suspected.
Also, I've always pictured most assassins to be more specialized in stealth assaults than straight combat. They should be good at setting traps and ambushes, but not necessarily tough or master duelist once you've spotted them coming,
Try the armband.

I also vote to try on the armband.

You slide the gold band up your sword arm and over your bicep. It fits perfectly but it feels like it is burning your skin. Do you want to keep it on or would you rather take it off and place it in your backpack?

Keep it on, in case this is one of those items which is apparently hurting you but which provides a benefit if you soldier on regardless.

The heat subsides, and you immediately feel sharper and more powerful. You are wearing a Mamba Band with its snake-like magic powers which will increase your energy and improve your reflexes. Add 2 SKILL points, 2 STAMINA points and 1 LUCK point. Pleased with your find, you think about which way to head. Do you want to keep going north or you want to head east along the new path?

Since snakes represent evil, I vote to go the fascist way and head east for once.

Go along the new path.

=======================================You walk east some distance until you come to a junction in the path where it meets another path running north-south. You don’t see any point in going back south so you turn left to head north towards the town, which you can see in the distance.
You hear a rustling sound in the long grass to your right. Do you want to investigate or would you rather keep heading towards town?

I vote to keep heading towards town, as this is probably an ambush which could possibly be an instadeath.

Investigate all the things.

Investigate. If it's an ambush ignoring it is unlikely to make us safe.

5 is luckyYou catch sight of a small deer grazing in the warm sunshine. You walk towards it but as soon as it sees you it bounds off and disappears into the long grass. You walk back to the path, and step on something metallic which was hidden from view by the grass. Test Your Luck.
------------------------------------------------
You have stepped on an animal trap, but luckily your foot didn’t trigger the spring holding the jagged iron jaws apart. You decide to spring the trap with the tip of your sword and render it useless. You continue on your way and eventually come to a rickety old gate on the right which has a large sign nailed to it with the words BOGG FARM - BOG OFF painted on it. A gravel path leads from the gate to an old farmhouse, which sits in the middle of a small field separated from the grassland by a wooden fence. There is a stone post next to the gate with an arrow carved on it pointing towards the town and the words KAAD — 1 MILE underneath. From this distance, Kaad looks like it is a small town. The buildings are few in number and are mostly one or two storeys high except a stone tower in the centre of town. Do you want to open the gate and walk up the path to the farmhouse or would you rather continue on to Kaad?

Investigate the farm which doesn't want to be investigated. And has a gate.

I'm just going to blow past this "are you sure" choice as there's another one coming. You pull the gate open and walk up the path to the farmhouse with your nose twitching from the foul stench coming from the cabbages which are rotting in the field. The farmhouse itself is in a bad state of repair and all the windows are boarded up. There are two broken rocking chairs, a bucket and a pile of firewood on the front porch.
If you want to open the front door.....
---------------------------------------
The door isn’t locked and opens into a large room which smells of sewage and looks like it hasn’t been cleaned in years. Old bones, dirty clothes, broken furniture, cracked plates, mouldy cheese, rotten meat, empty bottles and two dead dogs are piled up on both sides of a narrow walkway to the back of the room, where there is a filthy iron stove encrusted with burnt food. A blackened pot of cabbage water is bubbling away on the stove and there is, strangely, a golden idol in the shape of a pig on the shelf above it. Do you want to take the idol or you would you rather walk back to the entrance gate and head towards Kaad?

Actually, this one seems bad, I vote to leave alone.
