Re: Random 5e homebrew

Curses have become a mayor theme in my current campaign, and I've written a number of riders and enhancements to improve bestow curse and the like. Often these can be handed out as additions to magic items which might read 'after being attuned for x days you gain this ability permanently', or reading ancient scrolls similar to how a stat tome might work.

Below is what I've written so far, most of which have seen play, but not everything. Stacking all the boons together could become problematic but no one's really close to doing that at the moment.

Campaign is set in the forgotten realms, so various descriptors may need to be changed depending on the pantheon being used.
~~

Curses

Bane's Obedience
Any attempts to remove curses you created through spells or abilities must make an spell ability check using their spellcasting ability and proficiency modifier. The DC is against the save DC of the curse.
~~

Umberlee’s Reprisal

Any failed attempts to remove a curse causes the creature to be subjected to the original curse as if they had failed a saving throw.

~~

Bhaal’s enmity

Targets of your curses have disadvantage on saving throws against them.

~~

Shar’s Reach

Your curses have a range of 60 feet.

~~
Shar’s Embrace

If it is night time wherever you are, curses may use a 10 minute casting time to no longer have any range and works like scrying with similar modifiers and limitations. Creatures on another plane have +5 to their save. Requires a fetish unique to the target worth at least 50gp.

Requires Shar’s Reach

~~

Mrykul’s Patience

Curses do not require concentration. The duration of curses are as if the spell were cast two levels higher.

~~

Myrkul’s Gaze

Learn Mass Curse, level 7, targets a dozen creatures you can see within 60 feet, lasts 24 hours, upcasts to 9th to last until dispelled.

Requires mrykul’s patience and shar’s reach.

~~

Malar’s Mark

DC of curses raised by 1. You always know the location of those who are cursed by you as they bear the invisible mark of Malar.

~~
Kelemvor’s Authority

Curses you cast are considered one level higher, to a maximum of level 10.

~~
Azuth’s Seal

Curses you cast can only be removed by a spell or effect of equal or greater level.

Lore note, this curse was developed while asmodeus and azuth had combined during the spellplague.

~~
Stranger’s Black Flames

The cursed target erupts in black flames, feeding off their soul until wholly consumed or removed. At the beginning of a cursed creature's turn, they take 4d8 damage (half fire, half necrotic). The flames continue to burn until the curse is removed or the creature wholly consumed. Creatures killed by this curse cannot be resurrected short of a wish or a deity’s intervention.

~~

Disapater’s Compliance

The cursed target becomes mute, unable to speak, use telepathy, nor cast spells or use any abilities that require verbal components including breath weapons.
