wanna be really hard on vampires?
remember how sunlight kills them?
how reflected sunlight kills them too?
guess what moonlight is? bingo! sunlight!
and do you see all these stars up there?
each one is a sun, yes, you are in sunlight.

You only have to remember two things about vampires. They are:
  • Obsessive Compulsive to an absurd degree.
  • Really, really stupid. As in I can't show just how stupid they are.
How do we know this? Well, one way to fend off vampires is to tie a knot and hang it up. Vampires are then compelled to try and work out how the knot works. And I'm not talking about complex knots made only by sailors specialising in 6th dimensional topology, but quite simple knots. They'll try and figure out how the knot works until the sun starts coming up and they run away to hide.

So, next time a vampire corners you in a dark alleyway, shine a light on your shoelaces and laugh as they crawl on their knees to spend hours worshipping your feet as they try to work out how knots work.

One is, theoretically, a biological reason - no matter how stupid - and the other is just angst. Which isn't to say it couldn't work, but it needs better flavor text.
It could work if you turn it back into a magi-biological function, where the condition of vampirism defies death, and thus symbols of death hold power over them. A vampire strapped into an electric chair is paralyzed, and can't use his magic walking dead guy powers to survive the shock. A hanged vampire is paralyzed from the moment the noose hits skin, and it's more likely that his head will just pop off when the rope jerks taut. A dedicated executioner's axe is actually a fine weapon against vampires.

Fucking knots, how do they work?

I could be wrong, but I think you have your squares and rectangles mixed up. The sun is a star, but not all stars are suns. So far as I know, "the sun" is simply how we refer to our star.

Now, if you want to posit that all the negative effects of the sun on vampires in fact come from stars (which the sun is), then you'd be right.

Ok, yes, i got that mixed up.
But even if not all those stars you can see are suns, all these stars you can see are either suns or the reflected light of suns, so the point still stands i think . .

And scythes - those are symbols of Death! Too bad Death's Scythe is hidden from the world... If it made its appearance, it would annihilate all vampire kind entirely.

;)

...this...

No. That is a non-thing. The Sun is a star, but not all stars are the sun. In fact, only one star is the Sun. The rest of the stars are not Suns.

Stars are definitely not reflections of the Sun, lern2astronomy. You may have confused stars with one of the following:
  • Luna
  • Planets
  • Other moons
  • Comets
  • Asteroids
  • Your mom

I like Castlevania Vampires

You have to kill them with a massive beating

Technically, only with the Vampire Killer whip or certain magical powers derived from Dracula himself.

Alucard can stab Dracula to death with his sword (or just hold his magical shield out for a few seconds) because he's Dracula's son and thus has a fraction of the same vampiric power.

Shanoa can kill Dracula because she has the Dominus gylphs, which are fragments of power stolen from Dracula.

The Belmonts can kill Dracula because they have a magical whip that contains the soul of Sara Trantoul, a pure-hearted young woman who was transformed into a vampire against her will and chose to sacrifice herself in order to create the weapon. And this can only be used by a Belmont because of her connection to the clan. Anyone else who tries to use it will either fail miserably or die from the strain channeling its power depending on how much Belmont DNA they have.

In all cases, you need a vampire's power to kill a vampire after beating them down. Sources of that power are quite rare.

Castlevania is one of the worst settings to be a vampire hunter in, especially since Castlevania vampires can be resurrected fairly easily. All they need is loyal human minions willing to do some sacrifices and they're back in business.

There are lower grades of vampire in Castlevania. What about the magic painting dude, I think his name was Brauner?

Death deals the finishing blow, just after Brauner's explained his motivation for the main plot of the game.

oh man I just realized that Frank's SAME with the 7 elements damage and vampires being vulnerable to life damage (wood, natural attacks) totally fits in with JoJo's HAMON/RIPPLE martial arts to slay vampires

Frogs have life damage resistance
