I don't think it would really be possible.

Paizo had a built-in audience when they started Pathfinder. They'd published Dragon and Dungeon magazines for about five years (from 2002 until April 2007) and built a solid following with interest in their work. I know I was a bit pissed with WotC when they ganked the license and brought it back in-house (and all-digital.. I liked my dead trees).

I can't think of anyone with enough stroke and a big enough audience already to be in a similar position.

Throw in that "Pathfinder OGC" is really big compared to 3.x, and absolutely immense compared to the not-3pp 3.x OGC, and I reckon it would be awfully hard for anyone to pick up the pieces to "out-Paizo Paizo".
