"But transportation issues are social-justice issues. The toll of bad transit policies and worse infrastructure—trains and buses that don’t run well and badly serve low-income neighborhoods, vehicular traffic that pollutes the environment and endangers the lives of cyclists and pedestrians—is borne disproportionately by black and brown communities."

A marketer generally perceives Soon as a finite, known, yet unspeakable time-interval; to a fan, the interval appears greater, and may in fact approach the infinite, becoming Never. Once the interval has passed, however, a certain time-lensing effect seems to occur, and the time-interval becomes vanishingly small. We therefore see the strange result that the same fragment of spacetime may be observed, in quick succession, as Soon, Never, and All Too Quickly.
He jumps like a damned dragoon, and charges into battle fighting rather insane monsters with little more than his bare hands and rather nasty spell effects conjured up solely through knowledge and the local plantlife. He unerringly knows where his goal lies, he breathes underwater and is untroubled by space travel, seems to have no limits to his actual endurance and favors killing his enemies by driving both boots square into their skull. His agility is unmatched, and his strength legendary, able to fling about a turtle shell big enough to contain a man with enough force to barrel down a near endless path of unfortunates.

This only works untill you meet somebody whose fight or flight reaction is wired just a tiny bit differently though . .
Imagine the outcry if somebody had attacked and hurt the dog:"omg is just a joke u monster!"

So...What's his plan if someone attacks the spider? There were a couple of set-ups where he went out of his way to make it hard to run away from the spider-dog (the elevator one, the "nest" with the webs blocking the exit), and that dog is small enough that a panicked bystander could straight up kill it with a lucky kick.

Very interesting. Having the hard-bitten US superintendent staring slack-jawed at the inmate-friendly facilities makes for good click-bait, so it makes sense that that's what they showed. I guess I'd have to watch the actual documentary to see the parts I'd be most interested in (discussion of what constitutes ethical treatment of lawbreakers, talk on the purpose of correctional facilities, looking at recidivism rates between countries, comparing operational costs, etc.).

"What is justice" is a fairly fundamental point for prisons, and I've never heard it well answered in the US. (e.g. retributive vs. restorative vs. rehabilitative)

Alternatively, if you thrust sideways, you will briefly be a fireball screaming across the sky at mach 14 before you melt from atmospheric friction.
"Justice" is whatever reduces the crime rate. And then you bake whatever fake justification you think your constituents might find satisfactory.fectin wrote:"What is justice" is a fairly fundamental point for prisons, and I've never heard it well answered in the US. The answer is all of them, except definitely not the second two, but because some idiot in the 1800s thought it would somehow rehabilitate we just keep doing it for no reason.fectin wrote:"What is justice" is a fairly fundamental point for prisons, and I've never heard it well answered in the US. This could have been in either the POKEYMANS thread or the Smash Bros thread, but I decided to put it here.
I really wish he did the full song.
