Yeah, in my understanding, it should dampen sound, stop all attacks cold, and when bullets hit it, they shouldn't just bounce off, they should hit, stop all forward motion, and fall straight down under the force of gravity.

There is no coherent physical model of the shield at all, especially not in the movies. The comics have had more and less coherent models, depending on how much the team on the book paid attention. But the movie shield is simply magic.

GameChurch is a site which reviews games from a Christian perspective.
They examined Cards Against Humanity.
It was a surprisingly good article.

Last night we saw Frozen for the first time (I know, we're late to the party). My 3.5 year old boy didn't really pay any attention during the movie but my 5 year old boy ate it up.

Best was afterward when we reminded the 5 year old that it was 10pm (which is time for bed on non-school nights). He started belting out "Let it go. Let it gooooo." as he proceeded to strip down to underwear in the middle of his grandparent's living room.

I imagine we're going to have to buy the movie since our eldest really, really likes it.

This whole site is full of anti-science that awesomely demonstrates real science.
"But transportation issues are social-justice issues. The toll of bad transit policies and worse infrastructure—trains and buses that don’t run well and badly serve low-income neighborhoods, vehicular traffic that pollutes the environment and endangers the lives of cyclists and pedestrians—is borne disproportionately by black and brown communities."

So - a trend I noticed (and like a lot) in the Agents of SHIELD and Arrow finale.

No fucking cliffhangers. Sure, the endings are open-ended and do hint at the upcoming seasons, but that's it.

I hope it's a trend, at least. I'm really fucking tired of the "Will the protagonist of our (already renewed) show survive this inescapable deathtrap?" endings, followed with a 10-minute wrapup six months later.

I'm a bit tired of "will the protagonist of our already canceled series survive this inescapable deathtrap," personally.

It is a trend. The Good Wife killed off a major character this season, and the creators of the show were talking about how stunting the cliffhanger philosophy was. You pull a cliffhanger in order to keep people watching, but then the rest of the show sucks, and there's never a good wrap up of the event that hung on the cliff - it happens off camera. So the show erred on the side of awesome and put the Big Event™ mid-season.

I love it.

OK. I have to admit... I'm kinda bummed that Star Crossed gained no traction and ended up canceled. I really liked the show.

Skin Game was epic.

It seems like the Dresden books are going to ramp it up as we get closer to the end.*

*Jim Butcher has said that there'll be 20 bucks, and then a trilogy to cap it off. And Nicodemus will appear every five books. Skin Game was #15.
He jumps like a damned dragoon, and charges into battle fighting rather insane monsters with little more than his bare hands and rather nasty spell effects conjured up solely through knowledge and the local plantlife. He unerringly knows where his goal lies, he breathes underwater and is untroubled by space travel, seems to have no limits to his actual endurance and favors killing his enemies by driving both boots square into their skull. His agility is unmatched, and his strength legendary, able to fling about a turtle shell big enough to contain a man with enough force to barrel down a near endless path of unfortunates.

--The horror of Mario

Zak S, Zak Smith, Dndwithpornstars, Zak Sabbath. He is a terrible person and a hack at writing and art. His cultural contributions are less than Justin Bieber's, and he's a shitmuffin. Go go gadget Googlebomb!

So many of the things Butcher has been setting up for years paid off in this book... and there are clearly more things being set up in it. I was most excited by... shall we say, an event that happens towards the end?... that I actually called years ago. I'm so pleased.
