Speaking of which, I used ssnregistry to see if my identity was available. They sent me a picture of a monkey climbing a tree and told me it was my photo.

Hmmmm.

So, I went to the concert with a friend. Stumbled onto an amazing pub about 200m from the venue, Flynn's temple bar or something like that. Had real Quebecois-style poutine and a 7 oz lamb burger. That burger was heaven in a bun, holy shit. Cooked to medium it was juicy and infused with a perfect about of spice, and each bite was as good as the last. I also polished off about 3 pints while I was there before we hit the show.

Chatted up a cute redheaded girl, but nothing ended up happening. The show was pretty damn good, especially once I acquired some ear plugs (totally gonna bring a box to sell next year).

A lot of beer was consumed at the venue. I have never been as drunk as I was last night. Still, I was apparently on excelllent behaviour even if my ability to walk was severely compromised, or so my friend and an employee claimed.

Moral of the story? Lamb burgers are fucking amazing, alcohol can really enhance a concert experience, and never pay that asshole in the washroom for the privelage of being able to dry your fucking hands with paper towels. Seriously, FUCK those guys.

due to having been banned on the CBT boards - again, this time permanently - i am mildly curious:
has anybody ever been banned on the den, and if so, for what transgressions?

But yeah, we've definitely had bans at the den. One was for posting gore porn. PR was banned for trolling (a shame as I want to get a hold of him). Plus some others, I suppose.

Far as I know, the only people to ever get baned on the den (other than the robots)

1) A guy admitting he was here only to Troll.
2) Psychorobot? I think.. because he made an actual death threat, against an actual living person.

Death threats are pretty much the only way to get banned from here.

if you don't have VOIP phone, then that can happen.
is that an IAD Device you are using, is your phone connected to the same device your computer is connected to?
or do you have seperate devices for phone to plug into and computer to plug into?

I believe it had to do with when there was cross-forum threadshitting going on. Someone would wave their dicks at people on other forums and laugh about it here which would then result in people registering here and spreading the stupid like a disease. Ain't nobody got time for that.

The DSL modem/router has an extension port for the phone, much like a fax machine, but when you plug the phone directly into the wall, there's no dial tone, either. I've taken the jack out of the wall and checked the wiring, but it's clean and secure. We've checked the jack in the other room, but it doesn't work, either.

The phone peeps will be here tomorrow to repair it, and the apartment complex has said they'd foot the bill (which they should, but it was great that they actually restated it).

Since I live on the internet, as far as lousy things that happen to a person, this isn't really that high on the list. It's just annoying when your family is texting you wondering why you're not answering you're phone.

Hmm, let's hope it's actually the line that's broken so they do foot the bill, and not just your phone actually shot and you have to pay for it . .

@Prak - Took me a second, but I got it. I think I'm grateful I still default to the network on that one. ;)

Well, I tested with another phone, so that's not it, and my current phone has a message on it to check the telephone line, so I'm pretty sure it's working fine. My fax machine also has a no dial tone thing on it.

Speaking of my fax machine, I would just like to take a second to pimp my new printer. My old one finally kicked it, and it was one of those scanner/printer/copier things. I didn't want to pay a ton of money for a new printer, so I went to Big Lots and bought a cheap one ($70). Before I set it up, I checked on the cost of refill ink - $200 for all four cartridges, with no way of refilling because of the way the cartridges are microchipped.

So I looked online for a printer that I could refill, and found a Brother MFC-J430w. It's a totally up-to-date printer with wifi (I can print from my iPod!!), scanner, and fax and everything. It takes up only slightly more space, and actually has quality settings that save ink (my old printer just printed everything on high quality)! Speaking of ink, I bought extended cartridges for it ($10) so I could refill it. My refill costs should be around $1 - $2 for all cartridges now. And all of this cost the same amount as the cheapy printer at Big Lots. I am one very pleased Maj - it's the little victories. ;)

According to the standards of my new job, I'm doing about 14 hours of work in 8 hours. Which means that I can expect to stay around until the next step (making good money now, but I feel entitled to more so I'm still working on moving up).
In this moment, I am Ur-phoric. Not because of any phony god’s blessing. But because, I am enlightened by my int score.

Discounting spam bots, about ten. Only one was a temp ban. The others were permanent.

Ignoring mod warnings is by far the most common, followed by repeated obvious trolling/admitting to trolling, or some unsavory combination of all of the above.

I'm against VOIP because our phone lines tend to work when our power goes out... But the internet definitely doesn't. Given the frequency and duration of the power outages here, cell and VOIP just aren't good enough replacements.

So, there's an interesting rule in the Pathfailure game I'm in.

If you die and have to re-roll, you have to be one level below where you were before.

I'm considering dying until they realize that rule is stupid...

Also, the other players are not only min-maxers, they're not that good at it. Granted, I don't know the system THAT well, but I feel like I can say "I don't want to take either Power Attack or Weapon Focus" with some authority. My feats are Improved Unarmed Strike and Iron Will mostly because they wouldn't stop talking while I was rolling my character, I basket-weave out of spite you see.

The idea behind that kind of rule is twofold:
1) make resurrection even with rolling a new character. People complain that bringing back their old character costs a level, so they'd rather reroll--which everyone else dislikes because it disrupts game continuity. Solution: punish rerolling! Because the problem "obviously" isn't with how Raise Dead works.
2) create a dis-incentive to suicide your character so as to reroll them. Which no one would ever do unless the rules are somehow forcing you to create characters that aren't fun to play (perhaps they also roll dice for stats?). Again, the problem is "obviously" with rerolling, not with whatever stupid, broken rules they're trying to maintain.
