Many of the classes end early or are plain unfinished. Some of that is the point. They are meant to be fleshed out by the player or DM based on how they've been performing thus far; usually via a PrC.

Bard is designed to be a class that people can dip into now. Not something that's an ablatross around you neck.

I didn't mention the Frank/Sujin sorcerer since it's not a class so much as a mechanic. A very viable one (played up to lvl 7 or 8 according to Frank), but it's only that.

The items didn't have any sort of rule on how/when to get them last I checked. Incidentally, I tried to finish the sorcerer.

Anyone who wants to is welcome to add in the changes listed here. If you send the sources to me after you do that, I'll bump the version number, run it through the LaTeX compiler, and upload the new PDF.

I can run it through a LaTeX compiler. That's not even difficult.

The hard part is finding the time to enter the info in and then troubleshoot the formatting.

The Necromantic Materials section isn't entirely compatible with RoW.

It should still be in there; this isn't some Nicaean council.

Boneblade's a weapon material. There's no problem with it. However, the other two are armor materials, and get kinda problematic with Races of War...

Looks like I missed a section.

Put this at the end of weapons.tex

\subsection{Necromatic Weapons}

Code: Select all

\listone
\itemability{Boneblades} Boneblades are alchemically and necromantically hardened blades made from the bones of intelligent creatures, and the material can only be created by craftsmen with the Boneblade Master feat. For an unknown reason, they only retain their special properties if they are made into light slashing or piercing weapons.

Boneblades used in melee combat ignore the damage reduction of any undead creature and can hit incorporeal creatures as if they were magic weapons with the ghost touch property.

Boneblades made from dragon bones can be combined with the Dragoncrafter feat to produce items with both properties.

Cost: 1,000 gp per lb.

\itemability{Blood steel} Blood steel is steel that has been mixed with the blood of certain powerful creatures, making it redder than normal steel and with unusual properties.

Weapons made of blood steel do 2 additional points of damage on a successful hit.

Cost: 2,000 gp for a weapon

\itemability{Black steel} Black steel is steel that has been mixed with necromantically charged obsidian, making it as sharp as adamantine and as dangerous as obsidian. Weapons made of black steel count as adamantine for all effects, but perform as if enhanced with the Ghost Touch and Wounding properties (without additional cost).

Characters using items made of Black steel suffer one point of Wisdom drain for every day they are held, worn or carried.

Cost: 15,000 gp for a weapon %, 24,000 gp for light armor, 28,000 gp for medium armor, 32,000 gp for heavy armor.\\

\end{list}
Put this at the end of armors.tex Note that there is a cost for black steel armor, but no text, so we're tough out of luck.

Code: Select all

\subsection{Necromantic Armors}
\listone
\itemability{Blood steel} Blood steel is steel that has been mixed with the blood of certain powerful creatures, making it redder than normal steel and with unusual properties.

Any armor made of blood steel has an armor bonus two higher. These effects only manifest if the blood steel is allowed to hungrily latch onto its user's flesh, at which point it reduces the bearer’s Constitution by two points. Treat blood steel as normal steel for creatures with no Constitution or creatures protected from this effect.\\

Cost: 1,000 gp for armor or shield.\\

\end{list}

I see no reason why you can't just make blood steel <armor> that behaves as blood steel and as <armor>. Assuming <armor> is made of steel normally.

Oh, and tainted obsidian has no clear mechanic, and no clear place to live (in the book of gears?). I assume that it's one charge per point of wisdom, but I can't tell from the text.

I didn't mean it was - I just meant "Nobody put it there yet, and it's just one among the multiple lacking sections, that happens to have a compatibility problem, so why bother?". Sorry if I sounded otherwise.

Ah, sorry for misjudging you. I think it's pretty important to have in there, as it's vital to the functioning of a feat and a PrC that have been included. However, as I have done no work towards putting out the PDF, I really have no right to complain.

A comprehensive list of missing sections would be useful if anyone wants them to be fixed.

Another possible awesome thing would to be setting up a repository somewhere (with a password available on the site) so anyone could upload/modify content. But I'm not volunteering (to set it up, I would likely contribute).

Regardless, a fix for this one issue is available.

Alright. I just reinstalled MacTeX, figured out why things weren't compiling, added in AlphaNerd's handy little code, and am in the process of adding things and making spelling/grammar/etc corrections.

I am, however, really fucking busy at school right now, and have very little time to work on this. Don't expect much anytime soon.

As of now, I am planning on including the following:

The Curator
The Master of Wrath
The Binder, Tome Style
The Drunken Master
The Tiger Monk
The Zodiac Warrior

25 Video Game Magic Items
Various "Tome Weapons"

Various Tome Feats

Thoughts/Additions/Ideas/Complaints/Etc?

I'll see if I can run a mercurial server or whatnot at turing.bard.edu

My stuff's being added?

Eeeep.

I'd recommend the version of the Drunken Master on the D&D Wiki--and, even then, I think I've got to clean up some text....

*going to check that now*

Such a list's here.

Aktariel: you said something like "the community will then make them work". What about making them work first? There's some stuff so awfully incomplete that I don't even know what to say in that list.

To be fair, I'd consider the 25 Video Game items ready for play, although they don't, as you said, have rules for making them. But as for being used in a game? Sure, if a DM hands them out as treasure or they're bought, they'd work just fine.

Edit: Not that that makes the lack of creation details completely okay, but it doesn't hinder them actually being *used* very much.

Say what you like. There's a reason I'm soliciting feedback.

If you don't like the way they work, spearhead the effort to make them so. Maybe it's time for an initiative to get a bunch of community material published.

On page 273 of the Tome the text states that all the base modrons are shaped like dice. While good for a joke, I can’t say that likening all the modrons to dice is accurate. If you would review pages 87 through 88 of the first edition Monster Manual II you will see that is not correct. Only two of the base modrons, the Tridrone & Quadrone, are shaped similar to polyhedral dice. The other three are not. The Monodrone is a sphere, the Duodrone is flat like a board or piece of paper and the Pentadrone is shaped like a starfish. You may want to review that for yourselves.

1) it's not that I don't like any of those (in fact, I like all that I read to the extent they happen to be done, and I just didn't read what falls totally outside my interest, so no personal bias here), it's that they actually aren't usable in some aspects. 2) true on "spearhead it yourself" - I was actually poking you (acidly, I confess) on your previous "the community'll make them work" (seriously guys, I'm not making it up :D).

If desired, I've been working on a primer for newbies to tome stuff that compiles a list of changes from standard games to make it easier to know what one needs to know. I could finish that, or at least finish the section I left off on (language) and post a copy here for inclusion in the pdf.
