Oh, of course. It'll be funny to see what happens each time.
Since Cadwyn is getting a free spell swap, I won't take anything particularly good. Just Magic Missile.

Slaughterama slaughterama... it's a drama!

So, is there any obscure Sorcerer variant that casts off Strength? If we get rid of the chaos artifacts, Cadwyn's regular spellcasting should be safe enough. And I think that Dread Zombie buffs STR, possibly in a fashion that would synergize with shapeshifting.

Can Wings of Cover block the gaze attack long enough for Cadwyn to turn and run? It can only block attacks and spells, and activating the gaze doesn't seem to fit there.

Against area effects, it gives a +8 bonus to AC and a bonus to Reflex saves if applicable.
EDIT: hang on, looking up text.
EDIT 2:
Immense, partially translucent wings unfurl from behind you and completely shield you from the sight of your enemies for a single heartbeat.
Your evoked wings grant cover against a specific attack.
If your foe is about to attack you with a melee, ranged, spell, or psionic attack, you can cast this spell immediately, creating a hemispherical barrier (or a spherical barrier if you are not standing on solid ground) of force shaped like dragon wings.
The wings of force last just long enough to disrupt your foe's line of effect to you, providing you total cover against a single attack with a weapon, spell, or psionic power.
Your foe's first attack in this round cannot be made and is wasted against you, though he could decide to take any other action, including choosing to attack one of your allies instead, or take a full attack action that grants him additional melee attacks against you in this round (if your foe is of high enough level to have additional attacks).
The wings unfurl and then dissipate an instant later.
Your foe could choose to attack the area in which you have taken cover with an area attack (such as a fireball spell).
In this case, you gain a +8 bonus to AC (if applicable) and a +4 bonus on Reflex saves.
Special: A dragonblooded character, or a character with the dragon type, can provide cover for one additional adjacent ally for every three caster levels.

*cough* There is more to your characters than what's on their character sheets. 'Xochitl's action prompted a temporary assumption of Cadwyn by an NPC; but Whatever is now back in control of his own character.

(I also have the full text on Cadwyn's character sheet)
The AoE protections don't help in this case; it was just a question of whether breaking LoE for a moment could protect Cadwyn from the gaze, and it doesn't seem like it would.
Which means Cadwyn is almost certainly paralyzed, and limited to purely mental actions. Of which he has exactly one available.
Also, Cadwyn is still wearing the Chaos Shield, should it have any relevant effects here.
edit: ah, um. Interesting. Let's solve this new mystery!

Yes, we have just gotten a chance to force the local Powers to reveal some of what is actually going on. Cadwyn probably has a few questions.

Cadwyn has a bad habit of not asking those questions.

The intelligent ring might be able to make Ego checks to counteract it when Cadwyn's puppeteer goes, "lol, im assuming direct control". Not too sure of that theory, but it might be helpful.

It should make for a nicely dramatic showdown when we run into each other again. She doesn't know for sure what I did with him, so I hope she demands that info to start. I'll even give her a chance to save his soul if she plays her cards right. And I think I scoped out a local evil that doesn't play by the 'don't be a dick' rules of villainy to boot. Be a good target once I've taken care of my next few errands."

Did 'Xochitl just defeat the Mad God in Social Kombat? Is that worth XP?

No, she did not. However, if she ever manages it (and survives), then that is indeed worth XP.

That seems a little bit like setting fire to your house to "protect" it from tornadoes.
I think Cadwyn will be fine without all the random items we've found. Besides, she's got several good items and several highly questionable items already. The rest can go to the new arrivals.

So I was looking at the Wild Shape variant Ranger, but really the question there is why not just be a Druid? Would an
Advanced Anthropomorphic Bat Druid be just too much cheese?

I'm fine with it. That template is especially hilarious if you start with all 14s for stats.
JigokuBosatsu wrote:AFK for a bit, guys. Try not to blow Berry up with dynamite or anything.
I'm basically waiting on this before posting any more for Cadwyn, since I don't know if she gets the Eye or not.

Sorry guys. AFK turned into "My home internet is fucked beyond belief but now repaired." I'm still trying to figure out what is going on with our current encounter. WIll post shortly after I sacrifice some fajitas for PPE.

So, after looking things over it seems that pretty much the craziest Druid I could cook up was a venerable
Advanced Dream Creature anthropomorphic bat. Basically a
lazy little bat-thing that rides around on his animal companion and makes everyone else as sleepy as he is. Starting with all 14's this sucker would have an ECL of 3 and the following stats:
Str: 8
Dex: 12
Con: 12
Int: 21
Wis: 29
Cha: 23
Abilities: Lulling gaze, Sleep song, Waking Dreams, Dream Travel, Pierce the Veil, Sleep Vulnerability.
Now, I'll admit this started as an exercise in how much I could jack up a starting character's Wis, but it turned out as a pretty fun character idea. Still, if this is too much I can go for something else

Yes. Berry, Cadwyn, and 'Xochitl all met up where 'Xochitl broke down the wall//where east = giftgiver's prison and west = allegedly safer. Hopefully everyone else can meet up while Cadwyn does some soul searching (on what's left of it, anyway).

Okay, all done:
Ng'Thagai, CN Old Advanced Anthropomorphic Bat Dream Creature Druid 1 (Chaotic) (ECL 3)
Originally an ordinary bat, Ng'Thagai's life changed forever when he was caught by Tsathoggua worshippers. Stuffed in a cramped cage and hung around their altar stone with a variety of toads and octopi, the cultists intended him purely as ambience for their summoning ritual, however when the Toad God in a fit of whimsy saw fit to bless the congregation the dark energies warped and changed him. Whilst the humanoids present were twisted into bloated bat-toad hybrid things the animals underwent a more beneficial transformation. Growing and taking on a form more like their benefactor the animals burst their cages and escaped into the night. Finding he had the ability to cloud the minds of others in addition to a strong natural magic, Ng'Thagai survived on the outskirts of civilization. After 'liberating' his dog Maximilian from a farmhouse they have travelled together, not thinking further than their next meal until a flash of energy engulfs them both...
Current appearance: A fat 3' tall furry humanoid bat with a permanently sleepy look in his heavy lidded eyes.

I'm really sorry, guys, but right now is the lead-in to finals, and I've got a metric crap-ton of work to do in terms of research for papers and so on, and I'm not sure when I'll be able to get this character done. It won't be within the next few days, but after that I should be able to find the time.

Well, you're not holding the game back any. Concentrate on your studies, and when you get done there'll be a place for you. I don't see this campaign wrapping up in the next week or two.
