Yeah, at minimum you carry a big pile of them in your Handy Haversack, but you also wear a couple (I have 3 total right now, but the character is only level 2). I also carry around the specific components for key spells, just in case of a "you have to surrender your component pouches and weapons and anything else obviously threatening" situation. Stuff like candles, a wool scarf, etc. It's really a waste of time, but it takes 10 seconds to check the key spells and make sure you have the matching stuff, so might as well.
And Nystul's Magic Aura can be cast during the weeks you are not adventuring, and still last as long as you need it to; there's no way to tell which items are cool magic gear, and which are decoys. That's for everyone in the party--the spell lasts weeks, so it's easy enough to keep a couple dozen going continuously for free.
Throw in a hat to conceal my headband, gloves to protect my rings, etc, and Sunder isn't so good anymore.

Heh, ask a silly question...

And now there are like monsters everywhere and shit.
Re: Fixing Sunder
You could just use a hat of disguise to hide all your stuff you don't want sundered. Less helpful for wizards since they wanna wear headbands, but they can just cast disguise self anyway.
It's not a perfect solution, but it should stop mundane meleers from sundering your bat-crap upon first meeting.

Re: Fixing Sunder
Note that using a spell pouch to get components while casting a spell is a *nonaction*. That means that if you have more than one spell pouch your opponent just wasted his time and doesn't even stop you from continuing to cast. As long as you have a spell pouch you can continue to cast the spell. In campaigns where the DM is stupid enough to try sundering spell pouches, carry 50.
Honestly, sundering a ring doesn't even make sense, nor does sundering head gear. The only thing it makes sense to sunder is a held item - anything else is an attack against your person (there's no way you're breaking a ring/hat/whatever without damaging the person underneath. "I try to sunder his eyes of the eagle" - dude, wtf?). However, covering everything with mundane items does prevent them from being targetted - which really means sunder is just more stupidity that stops you from playing a character that looks the way you want him/her to. And in a game thats basically about dressing up your doll (stat-wise and appearance-wise), any such rules are bad for the game.

It'd still be nice to be able to cut off the Dragon's claws while fighting it...
