They're baaaaack!

Didn't we just clear these up?

They're not just annoying, they also seem to grab the focus and sometimes the page I intend to go to shows up in the teenytiny popup instead of the ad.

I presume you're talking about ad-banners, since I don't see them.

I advise:

Firefox+Adblock Plus, or other browser + Privoxy(configuring it takes some learning, but I used it before I switched to Firefox)

There are probably other solutions out there.

Nothing I can think of will help with a library/work computer you can't self-configure, tho

Yeah, it doesn't help me if I block the page the popup is going to; I assume that's why it gets through my blocker.

I think Crissa's talking about the popups we're also occasionally getting now. Unfortunately, since bbboy uses a popup login window, you have to allow popups from them in order to post. I believe Opera's popup blocker can actually discriminate between the login window and the ads, but you might run into weirdness on other web pages with Opera.

And Adblock/Adblock Plus only work on ads placed within a page (like the banners we're getting at the top of the forum), not on popups, AFAIK.

Ahhh... I have my browser set so that popups get opened in a new tab, so I don't even notice that they are supposed to be popups.

I also have Javascript Options, NoScript, and a bunch of other addons, some of which may make a difference.

I have the pop-ups blocked but I am still able to get the logon window in IE. I don't know how I did that.

Yes, it can. I had no idea that there were banners or pop-ups. I am not getting either. I don't have problems with other websites, either.

They were gone for a bit, but are back now.

Pop ups gone now.
I don't like how applying text tags shunts to the end of any text, but it's an OK board host and coding. Not great, but OK.

Problem should be fixed for at least a little while.
