I have an image on my PC, couldn't find it again, but it is one of the motivational-poster style pics and says:

KATANA
"It can cut through a tank. No, seriously, I read it somewhere on the internet."[/img]

I never got to the part about katanas. However, since I wasn't visiting the Den at the time, that first thread turned me on to the comedy classic Metascape. All in all, it was well worth the read.

For future record, Frank made that statement on May 18, 2008.

Anyone know when the new WotC boards were implemented?

I can only say I went there 2 days ago and it wasn't like that AFAICT.

I'm convinced now that Frank works for WotC as a double agent, and the Frank that we know and love is nothing more than an internet persona.

I should hope Frank is an internet persona, because otherwise he's an aspect of the internet that spontaneously attained sapience.

No, it's obviously Frank!

It would be so anti-climatic if he wasn't the mastermind behind it all!

Alas for the rolling smiley, for he is with us no more...

Edit:

So I guess I'll just settle for this:

xD

What's better, is that that reorg apparently came as a suggestion directly from R&D. So Frank's double life goes much higher than just the online team.

Also, FWIW, that split isn't splitting the optimization area. It was to split the
"Character Building" area which was one board to cover classes, feats, races, powers, rituals, and skills. But THIS was the format decided on

Well, incompetence still can't be ruled out. But I think my devil's advocate theory that Mike was acting intelligently and purposefully with the intention of destroying the community you had spent years to build is looking stronger. I'm sorry you had to go through that, I know from experience that it isn't easy.

That's actually kind of odd. I mean, I'd put all character-developing in together, or have a "Team developing" forum so people could easily explore team synergy, since that seems to be so important in 4e. A lot of the powers I've heard described lend themselves to a format where one uses a power to somehow affect the enemy, and one or more other party members takes advantage of the weakness and attacks the enemy.

Wow, if you disallow items, feats, and then give out free bonuses to a specific type of fighter, he can still be less useful then the average Monk.

That's special.

Also, I teleport my sword into Tiamat's Heart

The best part is, he's totally serious in thinking this is a legitimate "exploit."

Wow, I love how "common sense" means "what I/my friends do in our games."

Such abuse of the English language. At least the people who argued that clerics could spontaneously cast Leomund's Secure Shelter were intentionally making a joke.
