So assuming that D&D decides that the Essentials line is a good idea (and it might be after all, but I doubt it since the primary complaint leveled against the game is that it doesn't simulate enough stuff) then what the fuck is up with their marketing?
A ton of people don't even know that it's coming out. And I'm talking nerds. Now, D&D doesn't have the kind of money to even get a TV ad going, but don't stand there and tell me that you can't get a fucking poster in every Barnes and Nobles or a bump from Penny Arcade. Fuck, man, there are still websites advertising for Dungeons and Dragons Online and that shit is free.
Even the regular Wizards of the Coast website seem really shy about promoting it. Why is that? Are they afraid of angering the 4E fanbase? Bitch, people are already going to know that you're discontinuing their line in three months when your books don't come out. They're a segment of your market that is going to turn on you sooner or later. Why are you hobbling your advertising to keep them on board?
Are the people of Wizards of the Coast really this incompetent? Fuck!
Who is D&D Essentials supposed to appeal to?
