So here's what I can do: in addition to giving nations a little block of text (and a quote) to go with their flag, I can put up writeups for regions. These would look something like this:
South Asia
“Asia is not going to be civilized after the methods of the West. There is too much Asia, and she is too old.”
Population: 2.4 Billion
Demographics: 62% Human, 17% Asura, 8% Ogre, 6% Elf, 3% Dwarf, 2% Deep One, 2% Other
Employment Rate: 22%
Regional Super-governmental Agency: SAARC
Comprising only one fortieth of the world's landmass and being home to a quarter of the world's people, South Asia is the most densely populated region on Earth. Cursed with relatively low employment levels to go with its over crowding, South Asia has the largest problem with systemic poverty the world has ever seen. Over forty “major” languages are spoken in the region by the over two thousand recognized ethnic groups, but by far the most spoken and understood language is English. English is an or the official language in literally every country, whether people in the area speak Urdu, Hindi, or Punjabi at home.
In the twentieth century, conflicts between Muslims, Hindus, Sikhs, and Buddhists accounted for over a dozen wars and the assassinations of several heads of state. The 21st century has not any more peaceful. The primary difference being the escalation of violence as countries and weapons proliferate. In 1970 there were only six countries in South Asia, but in 2075 there are sixteen. And fully half of them have nuclear weapons.
Compared to overall population, the region is tremendously under represented in Megacorporate presence, with only Monolith Corporation of United Bengal and Splicex of Vijayanagar having the recognition of the IMF. There are many other corporations in the region that are vying for a spot, with core industries from metals to research. Economically, South Asia has a chronic lack of overall currency buying power, which leads to chronic trade surpluses as goods and services are drained out of the region to regions with more buying power. This situation has continued for hundreds of years, without ever reaching equilibrium as population growth and corruption have kept pace with currency reserves, preventing trade normalization and keeping quality of life low for South Asian workers.
So individual countries are just going to get:
Country Name
“Quote”
Population: Number
Currency: Name (Symbol)
Industries: Thing, Thing2, Thing3
Issues: Thing, Thing2, Thing3
Text Block
And anything else that is needed can either get put into the regional write up or just scrapped entirely. The regions are:
North America
South America
Europe
Central Asia
East Asia
South Asia
Southeast Asia
Middle East
Africa
Oceania

Is North Africa part of the middle east section? It probably should be, unless we're positing some drastic cultural shifts in that region.
So I'd suggest changing Middle East and Africa to:
Mediterranean
Sub-Saharan Africa

I think we decided to put the launch loop in the Arabian Sea off the coast of Somalia. If so, the Horn of Africa is probably the richest spot on the entire planet and definitely belongs in the Middle East.

I heard about this today, and it seems like the kind of thing that could be included.
