Weapons of the Gods had the Sage.

And had them as an actual in-character. A badass sage who can, yes, be challenged and beaten to turn the GM into the PC. It's tough, but possible.

I never really cared for that one.
Oh yeah, I forgot that part of its pun like acronym, haven't used that one in years, back when I was on Wizard forums. I thought it was kinda clever at first, it seems alright otherwise, though I can understand disliking the "worship" of a person implication.

In Maid, the GM is called the Master, and the Master is an actual NPC, and you can theoretically dethrone them to swap places.

Mistborn Adventure Game has Narrator

Marvel Heroic Roleplaying has "the Watcher," named after a character in Marvel continuity. One of those keeper-of-the-time-stream types.

Weren't Game Masters in Paranoia citzens with UV clearance, aka High Programmers? It's been too long...

I think in Paranoia the MC is just called the Game Master. Of course, it is the Game Master's job to play the Computer (who is your friend), and the Game Master section is marked Ultraviolet Clearance Only. But IIRC, the GM is actually just referred to as the GM.

Now I know why I remembered it that way.

I remember seeing Marshall thrown around at a random Wild West fudge game I played a long time ago.

All the games by Sanguine Productions use 'Game Host'.
