Eliminating the "stat" of "stat + skill" dicepools

Personally, I like stat+skill because it fights ridiculous hyper-specialization that is neither realistic nor fun. When I can split my points between long arms and pistols I... don't. Having a stat contribute lets me get at least a bit of spread in a category without feeling like I'm wasting points on redundancy.
