I personally wouldn't fuck around when it came to job searching, but that's just me.

You tend to get one shot at making a good enough first impression to get them to give you more than ten seconds of their time. I'd have to see what the resume actually looked like format wise, but my guess is, if it's too odd looking, they won't even read it.

I'd say go for it. If no one else did, it will make your resume stand out.

This so long as it looks clean and professional. And if it looms good then don't need to bother with a 'normal'.

If you have a huge stack of resumes, your first pass is looking for reasons to throw 90% of them away. That can even be stupid things like spelling or formatting errors. If you send in the character sheet one, make absolutely certain it's well-typeset and crystal clear.

Within that, I don't think it's a terrible idea.

I agree that there could be exceptions where this would be a good idea, but without any info on the job/company, I can't give company-specific advice. I'm pretty sure my answer is pretty good for not only for the average case, but probably for "almost all but outlier cases".

So, Prak, where are you applying? Is this a general resume, or for a specific job? If you're applying for a job at a FLGS, this is probably a fantastic idea, and I'll say I approve. If you're looking for a job as a bank teller, it's probably a terrible idea.

Slight nitpick - switch the alignment to something that isn't CN (and don't go to Evil either.) Just in case someone interprets it as "I'm a disruptive asshole."

(I assume this is for the Roll20 job or something gaming-related, of course. For a conventionnal job that would be terrible.)

Also - keep in mind that it might get eaten by automatic resume filtering software.

Yeah, the CN thing was the only thing really nagging at me specifically. I'll just go with NG.

But the question still remains, should I include a standard resume too? They ask for a portfolio, which I just happened to notice last night, so I may do up a PDF portfolio that includes both this character sheet resume and a standard resume.

Because it's a skill I have, and the completion of the AA speaks to my abilities in that it was a long term, challenging task that I completed. As a skill, it's just there because it's a skill I have and I had space.

I hate Valentine's day... it seems even having a lot of partners doesn't really keep me from being alone today... And my antidepressants are not doing a very good job today.

I stopped caring about Valentine's day ages ago.

I know, it's cool to not like Valentine's day. I still like it.

Although I did send out flowers to a couple friends, which they were happy about. If I bring joy to more that 1 person, that cancels out the negative feelings I have. Plus, a friend took me out to lunch on the 14th (she paid! That is something that does not happen to me very often.)

I always just give myself a Valentine. There's no reason another person needs to be involved. And I love getting those big heart-shaped Reeses Cups from myself.

I was applying to some jobs at cool places because I wanted more cash money, and ended up landing a new job at one of the top places to work in Boston. Then they beat my asking salary by a lot. I have never gotten a bonus for getting hired before, and this seems too good to be true.

Sometimes things just work out really well I guess. I start in two and a half weeks. Woo!

Downside: They're one of those companies that doesn't keep track of vacation days and that is weird/scary to me. Does anyone work at a place like that and can they let me know if this is a good or bad thing and what that means for taking days off?

Depends on the place, but usually that means:

1) You shouldn't take days off unless you need them.
2) As long as you get your work done no one cares, take vacations when you are ahead on your billables/whatever it is you do.

So it turns out it's really hard to get adderall. The neruologist who diagnosed my narcolepsy gave me a script for like 6 weeks of adderall and sent me off to college. He knew I was going to college, we talked at length about letters he might write for me to get disability accommodations and everything. It didn't occur to him to tell me that it might be hard to get more adderall.

So, about 7 days ago I notice that I have about 10 days of adderall left. I call my CVS in Chicago to ask if they can transfer my prescription from my CVS in Virginia. It turns out that (a) if I drop the script off at one location, I can only pick it up at that location, (b) my script has no refills, and in fact *can't* have refills -- a doctor needs to write a new one every time, and (c) the doctor needs to write it by hand and I have to turn it in on paper.

So I call my doctor's office in Virginia. He's on vacation for 3 weeks. I had an unrelated appointment with a PCP. He cancels. I go to urgent care for an unrelated allergy attack; he says he's given out too much adderall lately and he's worried the feds are onto him. I call the student counseling service. They say they don't dispense adderall unless you have test results showing ADHD. Like, they don't take any other doctor's word for it, they have their own guy look at the results. I explain that I don't have ADHD, I have narcolepsy. They say they don't treat narcolepsy; I should call the health service. I call the health service. They say they don't dispense adderall. I should call the student counseling service. I explain that I have narcolepsy. They make me an appointment with an NP, but no promises. They suggest I bring my diagnosis. I'm not sure what that means. I have the a print of the actual readouts of my sleeping brain activity. I have a prescription bottle. I have a pamphlet about narcolepsy with my doc's phone number on it. They suggest having him fax something. My appointment is tomorrow afternoon. He answered an email this morning, but he's on vacation.

Hey, something I'm actually qualified to talk about. So, the reason Adderall is so hard to get ahold of is because it's meth. We don't call it that, and the chemical structure is very slightly different, but it's meth, its effects are almost exactly the same just milder.

Overdosing on Adderall is super nasty, it can cause addiction, yes, but also fits of psychosis. Similar to the effects high doses of Meth will cause.

It's inconvenient. But there are reasons for the strict control. As a CII drug only certian doctors (who have been given a licence to prescribe narcotics) are allowed to even perscribe it and yes, as a CII drug there are no refills allowed.

I also have a stimulant prescription, though in my case it is for ADHD so I don't have the stupid circular referral to worry about. And yes, getting ahold of it is stupidly difficult. In this area, the pharmacies apparently don't stock the damn stuff and I have to wait a couple days for them to order it.

My class on Viking history has now twice been cancelled for it being too damn cold out.

The teacher should call it a field trip.
