Harbors (and the surrounding waters) don't have 'no real obstructions.' They have the opposite of that, a large number of dynamic obstructions. Also, you still have to be able to communicate with the sub to tell it to arm and detonate the bomb; nobody's going to rely on a timer or other auto-system for that.
Quote from a shadowrun novel:"Close only counts when throwing horse-shoes, hand-grenades and thermonuclear warheads"

That's.... not from shadowrun. That's a basic training aphorism of basically every post-WWII military.

And only because of the nukes part, the original is decades older with just horseshoes and hand grenades.

Yeah, basically a larger Torpedo but with a nuclear paylod in the kilotons range instead of conventional boomex.

Tactical Intercontinental TorpedoS(TITS). When they are getting used, stuff is going tits up!

No no, the MOTOR needs to have some ferrous/magnetic parts, but the hull does not!
The thing with submarines is that they are SLOW. And the faster you try to move, the higher the chances you are detected. The ultimate stealth tactic for submarines is simply stopping in place. Your TITS would take days to make a retaliatory strike, meaning plenty of time to be found and intercepted in particular when it lacks an human crew in place to perform counter-measures to opponent sonars and whatnot.

That's why you have nuclear submarines carrying nuclear missiles. As long as the submarine is hanging in the middle of nowhere is basically undetectable. But if things are going horribly wrong for their nation, they can launch their missiles at something, and those missiles will be flying pretty fast, thus making them much harder to intercept.

The hatred between Kosovo and Serbia is distorting the fabric of space-time and makes the clocks run slower.

Sounds like the setup to a The City & The City sequel.

'tis also sad that you're using a link from a Murdoch sock puppet that vilified the victims of the Hillsborough disaster, but now's not the time to rant for too long.

Terrorist takes hostages in small town in France. He said he was seeking the release of Salah Abdeslam, a suspect in the November Paris attacks of 2015. One officer swapped places with a hostage. A SWAT team stormed the building when they heard gunshots, and killed the suspect. The officer was seriously injured.

I'm visiting France for the first time and I'm struck (in an unambiguously positive way) by the reaction of French people in Marseille and Lyon to what happened. It's basically "well, that happened." No psychotic Muslim hate-babble (I assume Le Pen is at it but I mean normal people). No Thin Blue Line shit. Just people doing their jobs and living their lives.

I should move here...

So the current pope said in a speech that sinful souls simply disappear.

Many people around the world decided that the logic consequence is that there is no hell.

Which goes to show many people around the world never played D&D, otherwise they would know that sinful souls may simply be destroyed in Hell so their raw energy can be converted into magic items to power up the devil legions as they prepare for Armageddon.

It's weird to me that this was a surprise announcement, considering that this has been the pitch of Christianity since the beginning. Zombie Jesus promised that his followers get to live forever, not that everyone lives forever but you're going to like the forever part way better if you're one of his followers.

It's very strange to me that Christians have been wandering around shouting the slogan "Whoever believes in me shall have eternal life" and still acting like everyone else got really shitty eternal life options forced upon them. It sorta seems like you gotta pick one, and if you think the text of the religion's holy book means much, the Pope's version is the only one that makes sense.

Of course, as you point out, the fact that Jesus hands out eternal life does not preclude other souls from being forged into lances for angel battles, nor does it preclude other gods and demons offering various other eternal life packages of varying quality. But then, the basic fact that we've had really a lot of Christians running around for nearly two thousand years and we very obviously don't have any eternal living Christians out of the deal makes the whole thing rather suspect in my eyes.

Depending on who you ask, someday will come the day of the Last Judgement and all good people will be ressurected (or both good and evil people get ressurected then judged, which the pope just noped) so basically early-access, quite popular in Steam nowadays. Pay now, get the final product later. Eventually. Before the entropy death of the universe. Maybe.

Wasn't the reward also eternal servitude in Heaven, praising some invisible dickbag with a huge ego? So, like Steam, if you get the product you pre-ordered, it will be unenjoyable.

Fuck, at least Loki wants to end everything.

Technically yes? The Poetic Edda says Ragnarok ends with a new earth being formed with two new humans (man and woman) with Baldr being reborn to be the first of the new gods, but there is debate over whether or not that was added by Christians translating the original norse myths.

The 68-year war between North and South Korea may be coming to an end.
An unnamed South Korean official told a local newspaper that a direct line between South Korean President Moon Jae-in and North Korean leader Kim Jong Un could be established by the end of the week and that the two leaders may release a joint statement officially ending the conflict at a summit next week.
At this point, it's pretty light on details. Also, the notion is full of complexities:
“Ending the state of conflict is the core of the whole thing. Peace is as complicated as denuclearization,” John Delury, an associate professor of Chinese studies at Yonsei University, told Bloomberg. “There also has to be a process of actually delivering the peace.”

That is indeed awesome beyond measure. But I have one issue with that article...
The prototype robot was created by a collaboration involving Brave Robotics, Asratec and Takara Tommy.
IT'S TAKARA-TOMY, YOU BRITISH DOLTS!

Jeez!
