Different mindset. When you live in a more stricture-bound society, there's an extra degree of excitement that comes from breaking taboos. People that are open about their sexuality may be less stressed about it, but they miss the adrenaline rush of I might be found out and I shouldn't be doing this. So like a lot of "uptight" societies, conservative groups tend to get really kinky behind closed doors, and for certain values of kink. If racism was less prevalent in the South, there would be less overall demand for interracial porn...hell, it wouldn't even be a genre. It would just be porn where some of the actors are different colors. Like Star Trek rule 34 cosplay with Orion women and Klingons.

Even worse to use geographic markers, since people who release amuteur porn are always going to be several orders of magnitude less than the 30-45% liberals in southern states, so it's just as plausible that they are people who feel constrained by their culture acting out.

Like I said, non-significant number of people from a statistical point of view so take whatever I say with as much salt as needed, but with one notable exception all of the liberal women I dated were asexual or "any penetrative sex is rape" type of persons. I sell porn, though not on a large scale. I have one customer that wants interracial, and he's black. I have to custom order it for him.

When I looked at regional breakdowns of what porn search terms were most used in various areas, I noted that a lot of it was simply people wanting to see porn which featured people who looked like people around them. People in Asia wanted to see Asians fucking, people in Scandinavia wanted see Scandinavians fucking, and people in areas with more black people wanted more of their porn to have black people in it.

The specific "interracial" porn as a genre seems weird to me. It seems like a tag, but it hardly seems like a genre. But in the broader sense it is unremarkable that people who live in areas with black and white people in it would want to see porn that had both black and white people in it.

They're already a thing, it's called otherkinism. Most people consider it absurd, some otherkin are relatively reasonable, just people who identify with, say, goblins. This specific case is a bit nutso, but, meh.

Goblins weren't just an offhand example, I seriously do identify with the common pop culture depiction of goblins, because I have extremely low self-image, and a certain amount of victim and inferiority complex.

Otherkinism is an outgrowth of furrydom, and as such, I'm somewhat sympathetic to it, because I recognize that furrydom is mostly just modern totemism, maybe with some xenophilia. Otherkinism can get absurd, but I think most of the really absurd examples are Poe's Law failed parody, rather than 13 year olds who seriously believe they are a TARDIS stuck in a human body.

The "at face value" and shock factor says a lot, but thinking about it, is that worse than when Western politicians murder heaps of kids in their bids for election by enacting policies that directly and knowingly lead to their deaths (hi, Australia!) or block knowingly proposals that could prevent their deaths (hi, Republicans!)?

The fact that it's seated 100% in superstition makes it sound worse, but I'm pretty sure people don't care too much on why they're killed, and if it's based on superstition and not "being a shitty person with terrible policies" then that probably is easier to educate and correct.
