Unlikely, considering that there isn't comparable disruption for dropping to a 15 board.

Yeah, you're going to basically throw people off their game when you change the rules and they have to re-adapt strategies for the new rules.

I don't find that all that surprising.

Except, the strategies that work on a 19 also work on a smaller board. But strategies that work on a 15 board don't translate up.

Fighting vs positioning.

I can do well on an 11 board to someone several kyuu ahead of me, but the same is not true on a larger board.
