Wow, hypocrisy and favoratism on an internet messageboard! Stop the presses!
It's nice and all that we have this board where we can all speak our minds, but seriously, it's time to stop patting each other's backs. Stand up, swallow, and wipe off your mouth. Go sit in your shower and cry for a bit if you have to.
Ranting about how stupid every non-Denizen is gets old after the 5th page, even if you are 'laughing'.
If I'm the only one that feels this way, sorry. I'll go BAAAAAW by myself and try to ignore the little puddes of cum all over The Gaming Den floor.

What is your point? Are you trying to imply that noting the hypocrisy and favoritism of Enworld in a thread entitled "Still more Threads that make us Laugh, Cry, or Both" is taking things too seriously? Are you channeling Jerry?CatharzGodfoot wrote:Wow, hypocrisy and favoratism on an internet messageboard! Stop the presses!
Also, it is relevant for people who play Dnd. This interaction is a good example of a systemic problem on Enworld, favoring 4e and silencing its critics. Posters have either been banned or have self selected out of Enworld because of its 4e bias. This in turn has contributed to illogical fans that cannot be swayed by objective evidence concerning 4e. This in turn influences the Dnd fan-base, and induces it to internalize WotC's statements based solely on faith. All this means people like Koumei, myself, and others are less likely to find players that either want to stay with 3.x, or can think logically about Dnd role-playing games. So yes, I think it warranted being pointed out.
That is entirely a reasonable interpretation of the situation. My calling out an Enworld mod, and having complemented particular Enworld posters in the past, is completely congruous with your observation. The sex/rape imagery is also tasteful and appropriate.CatharzGodfoot wrote:It's nice and all that we have this board where we can all speak our minds, but seriously, it's time to stop patting each other's backs. Finally, you are the only one that feels this way, and your apology is accepted. "Ranting about how stupid every non-Denizen is gets old after the 5th page.." while reading and posting up to the 37th page might just be you.
There is nothing worse than aggressive stupidity.

I'm one of the most hate-filled people on this board (as me about 4chan sometime) but I have to agree. If I'm the only one that feels this way, sorry. I'll go BAAAAAW by myself and try to ignore the little puddes of cum all over The Gaming Den floor.
Aren't you guys embarrassed after a certain level of self-congratulation?

Seconded. There are plenty of message boards that are full of smart people that know what they're doing, and I think that it would be refreshing to focus on something other than ENworld for a change. And this is coming from a self-proclaimed pessimist.CatharzGodfoot wrote: Ranting about how stupid every non-Denizen is gets old after the 5th page, even if you are 'laughing'.
As to SphereofFeetMan's previous, not all D&D players go to ENworld.
In my village, any gaming Nerd knows what TSR or WotC are, but are clueless to what ENworld is. The ones that know see it as a D&D fan site, treat it accordingly.
It's perfectly reasonable to hate 4chan; people who send anonymous death threats to people's phone numbers have nobody to blame but themselves if they get thrown in a pound-me-in-the-ass prison. The 13 Wise Buttlords wrote: I'm one of the most hate-filled people on this board (as me about 4chan sometime) but I have to agree.

I'm not congratulating anyone.Aren't you guys embarrassed after a certain level of self-congratulation?
Psychic Robot has had this coming for ages, he doesn't deserve it but he didn't exactly do things right. Biggest mistake? Saying he was a self identified former troll, but honest didn't WANT to be trolling now, but knew people would act like it. That's dumb on so many levels.
And he has been posting a few too few of his own threads on here lately. So I'm not congratulating him. But still. Enworld is clearly ludicrous if they can just point over here and ban people as a result.
Also. Catharz can't be channelling Jerry. Because I strongly suspect Angry Pessimist IS Jerry (/Captain Bleach)...

Also cute is that they're "no it isn't inhibiting discussion" so called "edition wars" ban is claiming directly that discussion of information pertaining to editions isn't to be stiffled, just mindless "your edition is dumb" is banned.
Now PR may have put some work into discrediting himself in a past life or something similarly vague and apparently not to be considered according to policy.
But he did nothing in that thread but point to some information and highlight and interpret a portion of it. But that was declared entirely fatal flame bait on the basis that it maybe was indirect implied 4e criticism, he posts here, and he likes popcorn.
See now if he had posted "4e sucks, discus." and sat back with the popcorn that would fall under their admittedly already juvenile edition wars ban. But technically, and rightly, by saying "Here is some information about 4e, discus" and sitting back to have some popcorn he did absolutely nothing wrong.
They can falsely claim that it was provocative trolling in some weird ass way, but their express policy is that in presenting a polite and viable discussion point based on actual information he did no wrong.

Truly, I have nothing better to do than post on messageboards full of people that hate my guts, aside from posting on messageboards laughing at the people who hate my guts.Angry_Pessimist wrote:Do you have anything better to do than post on Internet Message Boards full of people that hate your guts?
Actually, when you think about it, even if I didn't have anything better to do--and I have any number of uses for my free time that don't involve computers that do involve people that don't hate my guts--the people who hate my omguts really would be more pathetic. Oh noes, the Internet is srs bsns!

Oh, and to each his own. Your tactics just struck me as odd when there are plenty of good Internet Message Boards to hang out at.

Re: Fun at paizo...
Dungeons and Dragons should not serve as an outlet for your erotic fantasies. Awkward stares at the gaming table aren't worth it.K wrote:To be fair, I think there should be a mechanic where chainmail bikinis magically have the protection of full plate.
Actually, do what you want. If participating on biased-as-hell message boards where everyone picks on you is your idea of fun, then go with it. At least you just shrug your shoulders and laugh it off instead of going "ZOMG someone's being mean on the Internet!" We need more people like you.Psychic Robot wrote:I'll keep your opinion in mind while I contemplate how I shall spend my free time.

Alright, Maxus, I'll work on that. And apologies to K.
Unless all are required to post, how do we know what they want other than by looking at sales?
What do you mean by "community?" Internet message boards? There are thousands of D&D gamers, and how many of them post on WotC?K wrote:The real question is whether he should ever be a paid lead designer again. He doesn't seem to understand the community or what they want at all from their games.

We really just need some blanket "ENWorld is made of fail" notice somewhere. We wouldn't even need to link to threads, it'd just be a general reminder.
As for chainmail bikinis, they were actually added in the final errata to 3.5:

As a mild aside, I wonder how come chainmail bikinis have to just be associated with women.
As Conan and 300 showed us, the idea of sweaty, bulked-out superwarriors clad in only bikini briefs and a cape fighting off hordes of minion appeals (completely unironically to boot) even to completely heterosexual men.

Best comment on 300 I heard:The 13 Wise Buttlords wrote:As a mild aside, I wonder how come chainmail bikinis have to just be associated with women.

Pure gold. Although I'm still not sure what the "Batman" alignment is, or what Firefly has to do with stormtroopers.Koumei wrote:We really just need some blanket "ENWorld is made of fail" notice somewhere. We wouldn't even need to link to threads, it'd just be a general reminder.

I have no idea what that has to do with anything (although I have no doubt that it does), but Speed Racer did poorly in theaters, and that movie was great.Psychic Robot wrote:Starship Troopers didn't do so hot in the theaters, but Top Gun did.
Hmm.

The Batman alignment is due to arguments about what alignment Batman would have. Because different comics have basically given him every alignment across the spectrum (my favourite would be where he kicks someone who was about to enjoy an ice cream. Chaotic Evil right there).
So to end the argument, they made a "Batman" alignment, that presumably lets you act differently every story arc/day of the week/whatever.
