Xilraxochitl smiles.
"Whatever the knife is, the fellows I mentioned must really want it. Hopefully its got protection from divination. I'll hang onto it for now, and I'll see if I can tell you more when I get back.

Do you have any use for souls? The main thing I want out of the ones I've trapped is information and a chance to put them in new bodies I can turn into undead subcaptains. But I'm not sure how I'll do either with my present resources, and Ashazzar and the conjurers are a decent trek away from here."

The toad hops out of Madoc's mouth, and transforms as it lands. It grows and stretches, taking on a truly unnatural shape. Standing before Berry and Kai is a small, squat creature, with oily white skin. It looks a bit like a hunchbacked goblin, but with its head fused into its torso. It has two mouths, one on top of the other, and four arms--one of which ends in a familiar metal hand. It almost looks as though someone had taken two albino goblins and fused them into one.

"Yeah, let's head back. Need help carrying anything? I can take Archie's staff." Cadwyn offers.

Kai looks around and blinks.

"Things went kind of fuzzy, then I woke up in strange place completely naked. Is it my birthday already?"

He heads back to Archie's corpse and puts on his Santa costume and picks up the old wizard's body.

"Let's go."

Berry hands Cadwyn the staff. "If you've got an extra hand, the Godblade needs a good carrying."

"I've got lots of hands now! Sure, I'll take it." Cadwyn takes the staff with his left hands, and reaches out with his lower right hand for the Godblade.

Kai checks around for any blood trail, scuff marks or other indications where the body might have been taken.

"Berry, Cadwyn, something has taken Master Archibald's body. Be alert, we are not alone in these tunnels."

Stowing the knife back in an inner pocket of her coat, Xilraxochitl stretches as she stows her loot away. "Looks like I've got the beginnings of a plan of action.
1. Check the minions I set to scavenging back near the soul river. Ideally, they'll have knocked out a few mortals I can experiment on.
2. Run this stuff up to the surface, find someone I can trade with. The devils are way too inaccessible, but surely someone can take some of this holy junk and give me something useful for it. Best case, I can actually use the trapped souls and bodies I keep picking up.
3. Negotiate with the mages and gnomes to see if we can collaborate. I could use a few exotic zombies or mining machines, and I might get a better idea what's up with the clockwork dragon.
4. Track down the runaway paladin to make sure the doomprophecy is unlikely to be fulfilled. Check up on the adventurers you asked me to keep an eye on before."

"Souls..." she pauses to consider. "No, not at present. Oh, and beware of the Lichloved."

"Alright. Thanks for the warning. I'll go for Ashazzar first, gnomes second. Are there any demons around that would trade for the opportunity to defile a holy weapon? They'd be on the way when I check on the minions."

"Defilement is generally too expensive, especially in this economy." The Oracle says, sinking into the fire pool a little.

"Well, thanks for the information." Xil heads back toward the soul-river.

Cadwyn turns around, to see if the paladin's body is where they left it.

"Let's just head back. Do we remember the way?"

"Something took Archie's body but left this robe. I don't like the implications of that."

Kai will follow the others, looking warily about as they walk.

Berry, Cadwyn, Kai, Madoc, and Cap'n Ratbeard - who is always looking over his shoulder and holding his mutilated tail - start heading back. They arrive at the entrance to the Giftgiver's Hall to find the door slightly ajar.

At the Entrance to the Giftgiver's Hall
A wet, slippery sound comes from beyond the door.

In Room 00
The shadows coalesce in a corner of a room, accompanied by mocking laughter, and then flee once more. What remains looks to be a massive (Large size) suit of articulated full-plate black iron armor, with eyes of glass, a large-headed adamantine hammer clutched in its hand. Emblazoned on the newcomer's chest are four runes in a strange language.

"Hold on, everyone get ready and I'll rope the door open." When everyone seems to be ready, Berry stands back and flings her Rope at the door, quickly opening it.

At Berry's command, the animated rope flicks the door open. Standing just beyond it is the headless corpse of the Giftgiver.
