What I meant to say.JigokuBosatsu wrote:"I have to give the ring up, unfortunately. Doesn't do me any good. I'll take those Bracers in exchange if nobody else does a few of those pills and go lay down for a bit. And the Manual and Cloak. I'm not particularly married to any of those choices, though."

"Man, an artificer could probably rebuild all these useless holy weapons into a whole army of golems.
Okay, the book won't do me any good, but the amulet would be very helpful, and I could probably use the fortress pretty creatively. The bracers would be an improvement over my current armor, and I could sneak much more effectively without clanking armor to encumber me.
The wisdom pendant should definitely go to Batman. I've got a poorly-understood artifact already, so somebody else should take the funny hat. Somebody who can fly and needs to breathe should take the magic rock.
So let's see... I want the protective ring and the cube for sure, and I'd be willing to take the elf-sneak gear and bracers too if nobody has better use for them."

"Good things come from this association already! And such powerful treasures you have. Such things are common here?"
Ng'Thagai will put on the pendant if noone else objects.

Hey Berry, you wanna swap armor? The enhanced Razor armor should be at least as good as what you've got now, plus it will protect you from paladin smites and be handy in a grapple. I know a smith that'd pay well for the adamantine of your current armor now that we have bracers that are just as good.
"My... condition," Tek clears his throat with a slight wheeze and croak, "makes me pretty stealthy already. With the boots and cloak I could sneak up on someone and shove a lightning bolt up their cloaca," he says, hefting the staff. "The chain would probably be better than my current leather, though not quite as good as the breastplate I can call... maybe if we just give me a minute before we fight any particularly heavy hitting things... The ring catches my eye as well... and if no one wants to risk it, I'd be willing to experiment with the skullcap."
(between the chain and the ring, Tek's AC would go up 7 points, to 32. He can use Silver Dragonmail up to four times per day (dur: 1 hour), which would improve his AC over the chain by 3)

Xil considers Tek's words, and agrees that he should probably take the elven chain, boots, and cloak, plus the staff (with the understanding that it may need to be shifted from PC to PC as circumstances change.)
"But you can throw stuff around with telekinesis, and have a staff that can shoot lightning. I hit things with swords, and I can't just vanish into the darkness like you. I think I've got better reasons to want to be harder to take out with physical attacks."
After some consideration, she switches the items she is interested in to the instant fortress, bracers of armor +8, and ring of natural armor +5. If the coat's fire resistance stacks with what she already has, she is interested in that as well.
"We should give the "bag of tricks (tan)" to Batman here, unless you want me to start experimenting with whether the animals make good zombies."
Xil tries putting on the mysterious skullcap. "We need to know what it does, and if my undead immunities don't protect me from mind-control, killing me here in this room should be relatively simple."

As the helm settles on her head, Xil's eyes go dark. Then the red lights ignite again and she begins to laugh uproariously.
"It's trying to mind-rape me, alright. There's definitely some kind of really stupid magic in this. However, you remember what I said about the ring? That piece of junk couldn't interface with undead minds. Same thing here, it looks like. You need a necromantic interface, not normal mesmerism. Good thing, too, since if I turned the way I think it wants to change me, I would lose any restraint and start making all undead within a substantial power range start committing suicide without any ability to effectively avoid it. Really mess people's day up.
Possible change of plans, yo. We could pitch this thing into the lame soul river and see if it does anything when the Mad God scarfs it up with the rest of the ectoplasm. We don't want to hold onto it. Or we could give it to the Oracle, here. I'd imagine she'd actually be able to look far enough into the future to know whether rebuilding someone's mind would result in something that would serve her interests."

"Sure, I'll try the razor armor, if it fits. Maybe I'll try that shield ring then as well."

Tek doffs his leather armour and shrugs on the elven chain, swapping the cloak of his explorer's clothes for the cloak of elven kind, and carefully slips his talons into the boots of elvenkid. "I've got some leather here for anyone who doesn't have better."

((Aw, she's starting to feel protective of us!))
"Shite." Tek caws, his feathers ruffling, "well, what's the plan?"

Berry puts on the razor armor and shield ring, stows the Manual, and belts the monk sword at her waist. "Oracle, where did you see Cadwyn last?"

"Oh, do we have an instruction manual on this thing?" Tek says, hefting the staff.

"No, but we can write down the command words Archie used." Xil avoids speaking them out loud. She also snaps on the bracer and ring, tentatively punching herself in one arm to test how the consistency of her flesh changes.Prak_Anima wrote:"Oh, do we have an instruction manual on this thing?" "Cadwyn is trying to become free from the control of whomever was using him as a puppet. I suppose if he found something to cast Mind Blank on him, that would make scrying impossible. We agreed to meet back here in 3 days, if I remember correctly. If that doesn't work out, we should go looking for 'im, I guess."

Pocketing the cube, Xil stretches and then looks up at the sky. "Any treasure people don't want to claim now could probably be discussed later when we know what the gnomes are willing to trade, right?"
If Ng'Thagai doesn't take the bag of tricks, 'Xochitl remembers that she has SLAs to control animals, and elects to keep it after all. She then asks Tek to telekinetically move her up to the surface.

Berry stows her gnomish chain and begins climbing the shaft with levitation and the Rope.

Tek will just use his telekinesis to lift himself up the shaft. He can lift 300# total, and he himself takes only 142#, so if someone plus their gear weighs 158# or less he can carry them up as well.

Thankfully, Xil just ditched her suits of armor and doesn't have any pesky internal organs to weigh her down.
