Starship Troopers is gayer than gay porn, and Top Gun had so much sexual tension between Tom Cruise and the other guy that I was terrified that they would end up having a three-way with Goose or Maverick or whoever the fuck the other guy was.

I didn't know gay porn sold so well.
I'm going to be blunt here. People, regardless of orientation or gender, like looking at attractive nudes of other human beings. Even if they don't get anything sexual out of it people are just fascinated by seeing a beautiful human figure.

The hilarious part comes into play when they try to reconcile this natural desire with a desire not to be seen as homosexual (or heterosexual). So there's a lot of twisting and hemming and hawwing and sniggering. But occasionally a movie like 300 rolls around and for a brief couple of hours we realize that it's okay to admire oiled, inflated Nazis in ridiculous Super Mario capes.

I still don't get the part why the ancient Greeks had to fight Ancient Egyptian Ninjas, though.

It's because you're an uncultured swine who can't comprehend how superior the katana is to the broadsword.

Very true. I don't mind the sight of a naked man. Just an ugly naked man bothers me. Ugly naked women bother me too.

But the shortsword was superior to the katana...

Hell, the spears were superior to the katanas in that movie. That can't be right. Only the Staff Chicks in jRPGs use those weapons.

I had no problem with the rippling muscles of 300. Now, the parts of men that I dislike regardless of beauty happen to be the parts that were covered in the movie. Although they pretty much all had ugly, masculine faces, but that's just realism I guess.

But yeah. I'm sure it's perfectly acceptable to like rippling, toned muscles, even if it does look a bit funny when they charge, seeing the way the abdominal and pectoral muscles bounce.

It would be good form not to point and laugh at a thread you started or posted in. Or at least use different names and pretend its not you. We aren't here to be your moral support.

Agreed. If you started the thread, I'm pretty much laughing at you as anyone else.

Fair Enough, I second this.

Dungeons and Dragons should not serve as an outlet for your erotic fantasies. Awkward stares at the gaming table aren't worth it.

Actually, do what you want. If participating on biased-as-hell message boards where everyone picks on you is your idea of fun, then go with it. At least you just shrug your shoulders and laugh it off instead of going "ZOMG someone's being mean on the Internet!" We need more people like you.

What do I share in common with this Jerry guy?

See this kind of thing makes me think that he has to be Jerry, most people don't just start reading out of nowhere and posting their angry diatribe against us wasting our time having opinions and sharing them.

And of course anyone who had been reading here for even 5 days would know exactly who Jerry is.

But even if he just coincidentally showed up just now, most people would still have read through a few threads before they started posting and making their own, and so he would already know about Jerry.

So Jerry, I want to say, congratulations on being such a drama queen that you announced your run away, and also, being so immature that you can't just admit you are wrong and come back, but instead have to pretend to be someone else.

But seriously, I thought Angry Pessimist might be Jerry just from his constant "the internet sucks" stuff he started posting the second he got here.

Frankly, I don't care if A_P is Jerry, or Frank's evil doppleganger, or a clone of Hitler. I'll read his posts and, if I consistantly disagree with him, I'll start ignoring him. Heck, for all you guys know, they could both be me.

Oh, and "what do I share in common with this Jerry guy?" isn't the same as "who's Jerry?" He could (in theory) have read some of Jerry's posts without making the connection with himself...maybe he's just not introspective.

Not that I care; i'm just sayin' for the sake of clarity.

Seems like a probable theory.

Verisimilitude is an arbitrary and, ironically, unrealistic yardstick by which to gauge a role-playing game. The point of games -- regardless of the type -- is escapism. I do not play table top games to play an aging government employee (well, USUALLY); I play a heroic knight, or a daring scoundrel, or a brash wheelman, etc. Sure, they all have a dash of me, but they aren't me and verisimilitude be farked, if my wheelman is going to throw the car up on two wheels to squeeze between two eighteen wheelers and the dice say I can, I'm going to. Because it's more fun than simply swinging around them into the breakdown lane and accelerating. It's also more dramatic, cinematic, etc. So allow me to repeat:

Verisimilitude is an arbitrary and, ironically, unrealistic yardstick by which to gauge a role-playing game.

Fuck. Apparently, warforged being affected by a sleep spell makes perfect sense.

When did verisimilitude mean uncinematic? Heck, when did it mean that it has to follow OUR reality?

At least it's not someone claiming that simulationist/verisimilitude means you roll on a table for Orcus's loot to be a +1 sword and some copper.

In regards to the warforged part, I'm sure you've seen movies where they have glaring inconsistencies (like a golem being gassed). That reminds me of such.

Yeah. I did notice that they don't need to eat, sleep or breathe, however they're not actually immune to any effects regarding those.

Such as starvation or suffocation.

Yeah lol, I loved that wording in the monster manual. I remember reading that and saying "What the fuck is that supposed to mean?"
