Ironically, the thread title is "Stuff that wasn't Eberron" and this sure does fit, but agreed.. we've gone too far...
So here's the original topic:
shirak at [unixtime wrote:1189335714[/unixtime]]Anyone know where I can find all the other ideas presented in the contest that gave us Eberron? I know Keith Baker suggested an Awakened Land where Druids Awakened everything or something. And that sounds far more interesting than Eberron.
I have actually never read of this, ever, though I do have the Eberron book.
It's an interesting idea but when your pants, dinner table, and razor all talk too, what's left that ISN'T OBNOXIOUS???
I'm thinking Beauty and the Beast (Disney) is the only outcome of a setting full of talking inanimate objects but I could be wrong...

I think he meant just plants and animals. Not your pants.
Because, lets be honest, there is no way that talking pants could be a good thing.

I beg to differ. Ever seen-wait, no, that turned out badly.

Koumei at [unixtime wrote:1189790024[/unixtime]]Here in South Australia, just about everything closes on Sundays, regardless of race, religion or hairstyle. Everything shuts stupidly early on weekdays, too. I miss Melbourne, where most places in the city were open at 11PM, or even 8PM.
You realize that the majority there are of a specific religion that happens to hold Sunday as the Sabbath, right?
Right.
So...
*sigh*

Crissa: Nah, they take the whole weekend off. Caturday AND Sunday. I think it's just a state full of lazy bastards.
Anyway, a game setting where all the trees and animals are awakened would mean that eating, well, anything involves killing a living creature (result: everyone starves, people use magical sustenance, or everyone just eats other living creatures. Like elves. WIN), and furniture made of wood is about the same as furniture made of bones. Seriously. That bearskin rug on the floor? That used to be George, the guy you shared drinks with at the tavern.
What are you referring to, Ceilingcat? I really have to know.

I'm pretty sure I read "the land was awakened". At the time I assumed they meant animals and trees but now I wonder, could they have meant the land itself rising up? Having adventures against the very continent you walk on sounds cool. Gives a whole new meaning to the old turtle/monster-as-an-island myth.

That's not exctly right, but the differences are definitely way off topic.
