Sorry I took so long, I have been pulling 16+ hour days and only today found the time to fix this.

It's not my fault for badly using an extra quote tag then.

I posted an extra two times to that thread, I've trimmed the text from the 2 duplicate posts, since I thought that the posts hadn't gone through.
Also, what is up with tgdmb.com's forums in general? We have so many wierd errors in general. If you screw up quote tags, you kill the rest of the thread, and sometimes other wierd bugs occur.
Is it part of the code used to generate the forums, or server issues or what?
The reason that I'm asking is b/c I'm not used to seeing stuff like this on forums, so I'd like to know why what happens, happens.

Open source stuff tends to have flaws in front, closed source in back. So while you won't see these sorts of bugs on pay sites; they'll have bgs that'll take the place down. Open source tends to be more solid with more bugs that are cosmetic.

To the best of my knowledge, turning off smilies prevents them from showing in posts; it has no effect on the reply screen.Crissa wrote:Okay, BUG: I have smilies turned off in my profile, but they're always on (and immutable) on the reply pages.

You can't fix stupid.

There is no feature to make smilies stop displaying in the way you want, Crissa. The admins may be able to find a mod that does what you are asking for, but the settings you are referring to only apply to your posts, and only on a post-by-post basis.
The options listing on the left side of the page denote the site-wide settings as set up by the admins. They have nothing to do with your profile.
If the "Disable Smilies in this post" checkbox on the reply page is not working as expected, then that is, indeed, a problem.

I am loathe to admit it, but you might want to ask Da'Vane about it on the Zelda d20 forums. Those boards have a thinger which tells you if, and how many, tags you have open. I'm pretty sure it closes them automatically when the Submit button is pressed.cthulhu wrote:Turn images off, it disables smilies and the alt text is decent.
In other news, a plugin that stops people posting unmatched /quote and quote tags is seemingly essential.
He jumps like a damned dragoon, and charges into battle fighting rather insane monsters with little more than his bare hands and rather nasty spell effects conjured up solely through knowledge and the local plantlife. He unerringly knows where his goal lies, he breathes underwater and is untroubled by space travel, seems to have no limits to his actual endurance and favors killing his enemies by driving both boots square into their skull. His agility is unmatched, and his strength legendary, able to fling about a turtle shell big enough to contain a man with enough force to barrel down a near endless path of unfortunates.

Link, please? I'll look into what they have to see if it'll work for our version.Maxus wrote:I am loathe to admit it, but you might want to ask Da'Vane about it on the Zelda d20 forums. Cynic checked the "disable smilies in this post" box on his post. You did not. Seems to me the software is working exactly as intended.Crissa wrote:Why does Cynic get to post without Smilies, and I don't?

Thanks. That's different software from what we use, though. So whatever solution they have won't help us.
I'll make some time to poke around and see if there's any mods out there to deal with unclosed codes.

You say that, but I did.
Why do you say I did not?
I look at http://tgdmb.com/profile.php?mode=editprofile and it says I have them turned off!

No, the only button I seem to have checked is the one in my UserCP that disables smilies in my post.Zherog wrote:Cynic checked the "disable smilies in this post" box on his post. You did not. As a result of my having checkd that box, I automatically have the "Disable Smilies in this post" checked when I go to the reply box.
As far as I can tell, Crissa seems to have done the exact same thing as i have but with different results.
Crissa: want to try dechecking the option and applying it, and then re-enabling the option and applying it again?
Maybe there is a disconnect somewhere in your account that doesn't allow the change to go through.
