Wait, so you're trying to make plot death a hard and fast rule of the game?
When it's a narrative convenience.
Wat.
If it really irks you that much, just have it be required to have a preserved corpse and a soul for res purposes, if you want a fucker to stay dead, have them get hit by a soul-stealing plot ability.

A plot ability to perma kill someone is bad, because really, the only person you probably don't want to permanently die is your PCs. Everyone else in your game world you want vulnerable to real death.Mask_De_H wrote:

Because it seriously fucks up any storytelling ability if the world behaves like a MMORPG where you kill an NPC and like 10 minutes later he respawns. It shouldn't require a plot device to permanently change the world. That fucking sucks.

So to counter the no res change you introduce another mechanic to push the tone and gameplay back where it started. That makes my point quite nicely.RandomCasualty2 wrote:The idea is that instead of resurrection, you have some other mechanic that prevents death, instead of reversing it. This preventable death mechanic will actually be as common as raising would be normally, so pretty much your PCs don't end up getting killed all the time.
