Keep on the Shadowfell
A D&D adventure for characters of levels 1-3.

The town of Winterhaven stands watch over a ruined keep that was once a bastion of good in the realm. This keep overlooks the Shadow Rift, a dark scar in the world that was once a gateway to the Shadowfell but has been dormant for many years. Now, an evil cleric of Orcus, Demon Lord of the Undead, seeks to re-open the gate, and the only thing standing in his way is a small yet determined band of heroes from Winterhaven.

Keep on the Shadowfell is an exciting Dungeons & Dragons adventure designed for characters of levels 1-3. It includes three double-sided poster maps suitable for use with D&D miniatures, as well as information on the town of Winterhaven and environs.

So now, I know that Wizards didn't actually (most likely) steal my stuff, but man, between the title of the adventure, and the background info involved, some of that description sounds way too close for comfort. :(

When did Wizards make their "version?" If you feel wronged, and they DID steal your idea, then threaten a law-suit.

Well, unless they started working on this one adventure back in 2003 (doubtful?), then I came up with Shadowfell first

He has a campaign posted online that starts with a cleric of Orcus trying to reopen a demon gate near Winterhaven and the Shadow Rift?

I didn't get that vibe from this decsription of his campaign.
http://www.shadowfell.org/

So
far all I can tell is that he's using the same naming technique as WotC of taking two words and slapping them together and that's about where the similarties begin and end.

He could try to make a stink that WotC is using a copyrighted name that he was using first, but I can't imagine it being close to worth the effort. Suing over a coincidental naming of a module and a homebrew campaign is frivolous at best.

mean that a link to something on theCBG.org becomes the intellectual property of WotC? Or does it just mean that a direct link to something like a PDF file becomes WotC property?

Is any of it more than the title and background info? If so, then it may seem more feasible that they are copying it. However, Shadow Rift appears to be a very common term in RPG games. Did you know that before 2003, Ravenloft had a Shadow Rift?

I posted a spell on Wizards about 2 years ago, along with a post on Monte Cook's and Sean K. Reynold's forums (the latter is a cool guy)

Something very similar ended up in Spell Compendium, only 2 spell levels higher. Theirs is called Explosive Cascade, mine Burning Cascade.

You can never be sure, but it's fucking familiar.
And I've kept my eye out since Prak warned us lately, withdrawing my Feybook submission and reposting it on the group project...

I hope that, in a future book, they steal Frank's line of "Andy Collins smokes crack".

To be fair, I wrote up a spell called 'Explosive Series' when I was about 16. (Which a bit more than a decade and a half ago). Never shared it with anyone, but its very similar to that spell as well. Its really just a fairly obvious concept.

Wow, looking it up, there was a lot of crap in that word file. I also apparently 'invented' 3rd edition DR in 1991. 'Course I was blatantly stealing the energy fields in Dune for that spell, but whatever.

A Monster Manual 3 monster is really similar to an uncon entry of mine (a swarm that can also become a solid creature). Big whoop.

Hell, I invented the idea of every race being able to be any class in 2E, with unlimited leveling in each.

ZoMgg u r teh stol mai eyedia

Yeah my friends and I did same.
We took a look at the level and race restrictions and almost everyone said 'no' flat out.
Wonder how many objections there were in the development end, or was it 1 to a few guys sitting around a pooltable in one of their parent's basement with cheese curls and soda like we were?

Woopers, as a species, have no arms.
This has not stopped them from breeding.

There is hope for the Count...

Voltorbs can breed too, and they consist of: a sphere (doubles as head and body). No arms, legs or (fortunately) genitals.
