Card-Based Battle System

Post by The 13 Wise Buttlords »

So, the crusader was more or less a failure as far as the ToB goes.

Is that just because the class sucks compared to a warlord, or is it because of the nature of its ability?

I think that it could have some merit; doing different things and managing your limited abilities could be fun. Though I think there'd have to have some ground rules...

1) You don't get to burn all of your abilities at once. None of this psychic warrior BS. There's a finite limit on how many 'cards' you can go through at once and at no point should the system

2) There should be a limit to how many unused abilities you can stockpile. While avoiding the IA scenario is a good goal, I think, combat shouldn't also degrade into a DBZ-ish scenario of powering up your true form. I think there should be a time limit (3-5 rounds) where your character can putz around or be tied up before he's either forced to burn an ability or lose it altogether.

3) Your 'offense' cards and your 'defense' cards should probably have their own pile.

Any more?
